2. Hurricanes
Hurricanes are known as Big Winds this is a West Indian word.
When winds reach up to 75 mph then it is called a hurricane.
Ahurricane usually last 8 days.
3. What are Hurricanes?
Hurricanes are large tropical storms that have heavy winds
The ocean water has to be 79 degrees F.
The eye is about 10 to 30 miles wide and has calm winds and clear skies.
4. How Are Hurricanes Formed
The water has to be warm.
The atmosphere has to combine with the sea moistureand evaporate with warm air.
There must be a wind pattern close to the ocean to pull the wind inward .
5. Hurricane categories/names
Category 1=tropical wave
Category 2 =tropicaldisturbance
Category 3=tropical cyclone
Category 4=tropical depression
Category 5 =hurricane
6. Hurricane Katrina!
Katrina- 8-29-05at 7:00 am. It happened in New Orleans. It killed 1,836 people. 1,300 children are missing. There was a 100 million dollars worth of damage. It lasted8 days!
