Begin reading right away – this project will be due in six weeks and the  visual component will take you some time to complete. Choose one of the below options from column A for your visual component. Choose one of the below options from column B for your summary component. Column A Column B  Visual Component Options (100 points): Diorama o For this option you will use a shoe box to create a 3D diorama that illustrates the setting in your book. Travel Brochure o For this option you will create a 4 panel travel  brochure that could be used to attract tourists to the setting in your novel. Setting Mural o For this option you will create a piece of a mural depicting the setting in  which an important part of the story or novel you read took place. You will select one important section of the story to illustrate.   Summary Options (120 points): Oral Presentation o For this option you must present your visual component AND give an oral summary of your novel. Summaries should include information from the  beginning, middle, and end of your book, as well as why  you did (or did not) like it. Oral presentations should last 2-5 minutes.  Written Summary o For this option you must complete a book report summary. You will use a format that I have and discuss the characters, setting, beginning, middle, and ending of your book, as  well as who you would suggest it to.

Diorama

Your task is to use a shoebox to create a 3D diorama that shows an

important setting from you novel.

Directions:1. Select the box you will use, and make the background. You could

color, paint, or glue construction paper inside to look like the sky,ground, or other aspects of the setting.

2. You must have at least three items that make the setting 3D. You could use twits to make a tree, cotton for clouds, foil forwater, etc. Be creative and have fun! There are some great

suggestions for making dioramas online – check them out.3. Write a one paragraph description of your scene and glue it on tothe top of the box.

4. Make sure that the title and author are clearly visible when yourdiorama is on display.

5. Make sure to put your name on the box.

Setting Mural

For this option you will create a piece of a mural depicting the settingin which an important part of the story or novel you read took place.

 You will select one important section of the story to illustrate.

Directions:1. Across the top of a large piece of white butcher paper (at least

36-inches long and 12-inches tall) write the title of your book andthe author’s name.

2. Select one setting from your book that you feel is mostimportant.

3. Illustrate your mural – be sure to include any buildings,landmarks, natural physical features (rivers, oceans, mountains,

etc.), etc. Use multiple media to create different effects(markers, paint, colored pencils, etc.)

4. On the bottom of your mural, you will write a description of where and when your setting is and how it impacts the story.

5. Make sure to put your name on the back.

Travel Brochure

Your task is to create a tri-fold brochure that could be used to attract tourists

to the setting in your novel.

Directions:1. Fold a piece of white construction paper into three equal sections

from one short end to the other.2. On the outside panel, title brochure “Welcome to _____________”

(fill in with the name of your setting.3. As you open up the brochure, title the first section (on the left),

“A Visit to (setting name)”. Describe the setting and illustrate.4. Title the center section, “The Role (setting name) played in (story

name). Describe how the setting impacted the characters andevents in the story and illustrate.

5. On the final section (on the right) title the brochure “Finding YourWay Around (setting name)”. Draw a map that shows the mainarea described in your novel. What landmarks, buildings, andphysical features are nearby? Some of this may have beenexplained clearly in your story; some you may have to inferbased on how you visualize the setting in your head.

6. Write your name on the back of your brochure.
