This session will discuss what Wyoming has learned from the evaluation of the State
Targeted Response and State Opioid Response grants, and the current state of opioid
abuse, treatment, and prevention in Wyoming.

Methamphetamine Use and the Impact on Child Welfare
Participants will learn about the national and state prevalence of drug-related removals to
foster care over the last ten years and the various child, parent, and family risk factors
associated with both methamphetamine involvement and foster care placement.
Participants will also learn about the effect of methamphetamine on permanency outcomes
including reunification, guardianship, and adoption, as well as the effect of substance-
related removals and other risk factors for failure to achieve permanence in Wyoming.

Peer Support: What it is and How it Works
Peer Support can play a vital role in supporting the aims of our systems of care. This
presentation will describe the role (what it is and isn't) and share success stories and
lessons learned. Individual scenarios will be used to demonstrate the role, and participants
will be invited to ask questions and consider pathways to successful implementation of the
peer role within their own agencies.

Naloxone Prescribing, Patient Identification, and Counseling Requirements
This session will review the role naloxone plays in opioid overdoses and therapy.
Participants will learn about naloxone legislation that was enacted in Wyoming in July 2017;
learn about the different forms of naloxone available; understand how to identify
candidates for naloxone, and how to counsel the patient on the use of naloxone in an
emergency situation.
