harmonized quality of service over all reception modes

➢ Having access to hundreds of signal sources, SES can ensure a synchronized

distribution

How does it work?

➢ SES uses the signal when it arrives at the teleport for uplink to the satellite with

DVB high-end encoding and for the low latency distribution via OTT with the

new CMAF standard.

➢ Both signals will arrive at consumer devices at the same time – given the

consumer has a good internet connection

when needed; only charged for the

consumed resources and time.

Con: traffic costs out of the cloud, e.g. to a

teleport can be rather high.

Suited best: when high scalability is

needed for unforeseeable customer

limited time or in exceptional cases, like

Disaster Recovery.

Private CloudServices run on SES infrastructure (own or

partner premise) with an abstraction layer,

that makes the cloud benefits available on

our hardware.

Pro: services can be started within

no consumption and traffic costs paid to

Public Cloud providers.

Con: requires own hard- and software

investment; increases

engineering/operations complexity over

traditional on premise equipment.

Suited best: when high scalability is

when purchases hardware should be

flexibly allocated to different scenarios,

e.g. live transcoding in May, playout in

June, to optimize utilization and costs.

On PremiseServices run on SES infrastructure (own or

partner premise) – maybe virtualized, but

without a „cloud layer“ .

Pro: no increased complexity to manage

the „cloud layer“; no consumption or traffic

costs paid to Public Cloud providers.

Con: requires own hard- and software

investment; lead-times for dedicated

hardware slow down a fast service

creation.

Suited best: for stable 24x7 channels, that

run for 2-5 years without major changes;

for cost-effective installations for only one

TV channel in a specific (partner) teleport
