IIn 1969, San Antonio was flourishing. A city of over700,000 residents, the Alamo City was rapidlygrowing. However, with that growth, the city’shomeless population also increased. Broughttogether because of a desire to serve others, fiveSan Antonio Presbyterian churches joined effortsand the San Antonio Urban Council was created.Providing health care, education, homelessnesssupport, senior citizen support, and child care tolow income San Antonio families, the Council beganmany programs that would continue helping thosein need for years to come.

HOUSING THE HOMELESS

We provide free case management and professionalcounseling services, referrals, information regardingvictims' rights, and assistance with Crime Victims'Compensation. Our goal is to improve the lives ofindividuals who have experienced trauma due to crimesagainst them. 674 hours of Safe Services professional counseling164 individuals in the Victims of Crime (VOCA) programwere provided case management services For more information, email us [email protected].

Endeavors provides supportive housing, case management,professional counseling, life skills training, and employmentopportunities for chronically homeless adults with disabilitiesand their children. FILLING THE NEED: SAN ANTONIO FAMILY HOUSING EXPANSION

At the Fairweather Family Lodge, we provide a safe, healthy,secure environment for chronically homeless women and theirchildren. On our campus, residents are provided casemanagement, specialized parenting programs, life skillseducation, and employment opportunities, in addition to long-term housing, food, clothing, childcare, and other basicnecessities. Our goal is to provide an environment that allowsthese families to achieve a life of stability, success, and self-sufficiency. Within the next few years, Endeavors is looking to double ourcurrent footprint, constructing a new facility adjacent to theexisting one. Providing additional housing, we project thisexpansion will allow us to serve an additional 60 mothers andchildren in a secure, apartment-style setting. One of Endeavors' most successful housing programs, the FairweatherFamily Lodge, serves vulnerable women and children affected bymental illness, abuse, and homelessness in Bexar County, 100% of our current residents have experienced homelessness, livingunder bridges, on the streets, in abandoned buildings, and in greenspaces for an average of 23 months 100% of our families have been affected by family violence 100% of our clients are below the poverty line 90% of our families have been involved with Child Protective Services

As a current experienced DFPS contract holder in four Texas regions,our licensed and highly-qualified professionals provide essentialservices that improve the quality of life of many children eachyear. Through regularly scheduled in-home visits, our staff deliverstimely, high-quality home study reports that can be used for domesticadoptions and kinship/foster care decisions. We currently providehome study services for adoptive/foster families in 65 Texas counties,including the cities of San Antonio, Houston, El Paso, Corpus Christi,and those within the Rio Grande Valley.

Founded in 1992, Endeavors Unlimited specializes in casemanagement and provides supportive employment opportunitiesfor people who live with one or more disabilities. Endeavors Unlimited currently provides employmentopportunities and services throughout Texas. Services includecustodial, grounds maintenance, landscaping design andinstallation, window washing, tree trimming, and facilitymaintenance. The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics at Endeavorsare dedicated to serving Veterans and their families withhigh-quality, accessible, and integrated mental health careregardless of role while in uniform, discharge status, orability to pay.

All Post-9/11 Veterans and any person who hasserved in the U.S. Armed Forces, including NationalGuard and Reserves.

Family members of Veterans, Reservists, NationalGuardsmen, and Active Duty service members.

Family members include parents, siblings, spouses orpartners, children, caretakers, and others asdetermined by the Veteran.

Endeavors is the only provider in the Cohen Clinic Network tohouse three clinics, with locations in San Antonio, El Paso, andKilleen, Texas.

Telehealth appointments are available across the state of Texas.Telehealth allows a client to schedule appointments with a clinicianin real time over the phone or through video-conferencing in theprivacy and comfort of their home.

Texas has the largest population of Veterans of any state in the U.S.State-wide services are low-to-no-cost, and will be offered virtually.Payment will be based on the Veteran families financial situation.Members will have access to integrated health, mental health, andholistic activities, including acupuncture, yoga and tai chi, as well asa large state of the art fitness center.

Endeavors provides client-focused services for short-termrelief and long-term recovery. We provide assistancedeveloping recovery plans, creating safe environments, andproviding resource referrals for individuals impacted byPresidentially declared natural disasters and emergencies.

Endeavors has a track record of successful communitypartnerships with Long-Tern Recovery Groups (LTRGs).Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOADS), communitynonprofits, municipalities, homeless and housing coalitions, andothers assisting local communities impacted by federallydeclared disasters. Endeavors Rapid Deployment Staffing has assisted communities inneed for nearly a decade. Our services can deploy humanitarianoperations at a moment's notice to serve our most vulnerablepopulations. We can provide resources and assistance to State, Tribal, and localhealth authorities throughout the United States. Endeavors has served nearly 25,000 individuals through our RapidDeployment Staffing. We have proven that we can respond quicklyand are capable of multiple deployments.

RAPID DEPLOYMENT STAFFING

With over 1,600 professional reservists located throughout theUnited States, Endeavors is able to deploy within 72 hours ofactivation in response to public health emergencies. All reservists receive proper training and preparation for the urgenthealth needs that may arise. Our reservists are CPR and first aidcertified and include licensed case managers and clinicians, as wellas child and direct care staff. Additionally, our Rapid Deployment staff is proficient in behavioralmanagement, crisis intervention, and trauma response, specializingin shelter operations and employing staff who have bilingual skillsand possess state teaching and aide certifications. Endeavors' primary areas of Rapid Deployment Staffing includeresidential supervision of domestic and international children; crisiscase management, logistical support, and facilities management,relief services in disasters for unsheltered populations andcommunity outreach and assessments.

COVID-19 has changed each of us and will forever change how we lookat the world. Some of us have experienced increased stress, andunfortunately, some of us have lost family, friends and loved ones.How we look at our own health and safety has changed and many ofthe simple day to day freedoms we’ve experienced have been altered. For the health and safety of our staff and clients, Endeavorsoperations during the COVID-19 pandemic have continued to operate98% remotely, with only essential personnel working at their dutylocations. Despite the challenges we’ve seen operating in this type ofenvironment, our team members continue to meet the urgent needsof the vulnerable populations we serve. We are proud of how our organization has come together during thistime to focus on the safety and security for our clients and staffthrough Endeavors COVID-19 Response efforts. This is a testament tothe dedication, professionalism, and teamwork we have at Endeavors.

Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families: Endeavors intake, outreach, and case managers continue to serve homeless Veterans and theirfamilies in 81 counties throughout Texas by providing rapid rehousing and homelessness prevention services. The $3.25M in CARES ACT fundingwe’ve received and begun to distribute allows us to serve Veterans who have fallen behind in their rent, utilities, and other payments. We’vealready helped 66 Veterans during this time. We are continuing to provide one-on-one case management services to obtain the necessary VA benefits,mental health, employment, and financial assistance they need. The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics: Endeavors is operating three clinics for the Cohen Veterans Network, located in Killeen, El Paso, and SanAntonio, TX remotely via video conferencing capability. The Cohen Clinics have provided over 3,000 treatment appointments since remote workwas initiated in March for Post-9/11 Veterans and their families. In addition, the clinics are providing a variety of life skills and outreach activitiesincluding Tia Chi Tuesdays, yoga and iRest, support groups, marriage management classes and educational information for our communities.  The Cohen Clinics have successfully transitioned to the remote platform and have the capacity to provide mental health care to Post-9/11 Veteransand their families. According to the Cohen Veterans Network, the total Telehealth sessions at the Cohen Clinics increased 400% from January2019 to date. The El Paso Cohen Clinic is set to host its first virtual Veterans Mental Health Summit May 18th – 22nd with over 250 attendees registeredeach session. Virtual Wellness Center: Endeavors has provided six weeks of virtual wellness activities targeted for Stress Reduction. Our current population is ourEndeavors employees and workshops to the local VA as well as daily wellness activities for all of our nearly 500 employees. We are building a YouTubechannel to provide a variety of wellness techniques for those dealing with increased stress during this time. We have also postured ourselves toprovide virtual mental healthcare and wellness services activities across the state of Texas.

Supportive Housing: Endeavors continues to provide supportive housing, casemanagement, professional counseling, life skills training, and employmentopportunities for 34 chronically homeless women with disabilities and theirchildren in San Antonio, TX, and 14 clients in Fayetteville, NC. Throughgenerous partnerships with the local community in San Antonio, we obtained over$7,000 in food donations for our Fairweather Family Lodge (FFL) Residents, alongwith 70+ masks and protective gear. Thanks to HEB for providing beautifulMother’s Day bouquets to all our mothers at FFL valued at over $500. We alsoreceived over $200 worth of books and jewelry for our Mother’s from communitypartners. Our caseworkers continue to provide outreach to 16 Fairweather LodgeResidents providing food and assistance during a shelter in place. Home Studies: Endeavors has provided over 550 home studies during the last twomonths to support abused and neglected children across Texas each year, allowingfor Adoption Home Study Reports and Home Study Services to continue.  Supportive Employment: Endeavors continues to employ those with disabilities.Our employees continue to deliver custodial and landscaping services in El Paso,Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas/Ft Worth. These employees are working on thefrontlines cleaning 42 facilities every day to ensure federal and state essentialbusiness partners can continue operations.

Disaster Case Management: We continue to provide client-focused services for short-term relief and long-term recovery for disaster victims continuing to recover fromHurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Florence in North Carolina, serving 20K+ victimsin 2019. We have developed over 4,000 individualized disaster recovery plans andprovided over $29 million in resource dollars for individuals in need. Rapid Deployment Staffing: Endeavors has 1,600 ready reservists trained and onstandby to respond and deploy where needed throughout the United States to providetemporary shelter operations. Services include case management, clinical, logistical,transportation, and direct care support. Currently, we have reservists deployed to Dallas,El Paso and San Antonio, Texas, in support of overflow shelters for foster children and thehomeless. We are providing sheltering support and care to over 694 men, women,and children each day. Due to social distancing guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic, many shelters aremeeting capacity at a much faster rate and are unable to house their standard populationamounts. The need has led many cities to expand their homelessness care programs. InEl Paso, we assisted in creating and staffing two temporary shelters for homelesspopulations. In Dallas, we have deployed additional staff to help serve at an emergencyshelter working with the Salvation Army. In San Antonio, we’ve helped to provide thestaffing for a children’s shelter, which has seen higher volume than usual due to an uptickin domestic violence during COVID-19 stay-at-home orders.

Endeavors serves to reunify families torn apart by poverty, unemployment,catastrophes, or neglect by providing real, practical solutions and a path tostability and wellbeing. Endeavors currently provide foster care home studiesfor over 4,500 families annually throughout the state of Texas. Our team hasover seven years of experience staffing shelters for the US Department ofHealth and Human Services (HSS) Office of Refugee Resettlement at 12locations nationwide. 

Endeavors’ Residential Shelter Services domestic program aims to providenurturing child-care alongside mental health treatment services for Bexar County’sdisplaced youth.

Endeavors is preparing to open a permanent shelter for domestic andinternational foster children in San Antonio, a community project that will fill acritical need. The current pandemic crisis has redefined what emergencypreparedness means, especially to the under-served populations of ourcommunity, with many of those including children.

CARE & COMPASSION FOR FOSTER CHILDREN

Also working alongside the ORR, an office of the Administration for Children & Families (ACF) within The Department of Health and Human Services(HHS), our international program will help children displaced from their family and loved ones. During their transition, each child is assigned a casemanager whose primary goal includes all of the following: reunification of the child with a loving and caring family member or sponsor; integration ofthe child into a nurturing home; placement of the child in an environment that promotes positive mental growth.
