1100Service #Initial Review

PROJECT DEVELOPMENTCONSULTING SERVICES

The Hanging Gardens methodology seeks to maximize cost saving opportunities while simultaneously retaining the architectural design intent of a project. We can do our best work when we are brought onto the project team in the initial design process with the owner and architect so we can help bring to life their vision while creating a cost-eff ective and functional system that mitigates stormwater. If a project seeks further dedication to sustainable eff orts, LEED consultation is available to ensure clients have every option available to maximize achievable points in the rating system. The Initial Review of each project will provide an invaluable insight into a client’s stormwater mitigation potential, and an unparalleled opportunity to see how easy we make it to incorporate stormwater technology where one might not even expect it could be utilized.

We perceive each project as an exciting opportunity to take projects from the beginning and make sure they are assembled correctly. Hanging Gardens uses a project screening form to learn more about the project, and the needs our client might have when it comes to green infrastructure. Whether the project is designed as a stormwater mitigation tool, or simply an aesthetic attribute to a bigger picture, Hanging Gardens can pull together an arsenal of ideas for our clients to envision. Upon review of completed documents, our team will integrate “out-of-the-box” systems that we have designed with architectural drawings and details to give clients a well rounded idea of what sort of options they have. Basic review of Hanging Gardens’ products will be provided to the client to introduce them to cutting-edge industry technologies and state-of-the-art stormwater management and green infrastructure system components.

Hanging Gardens has designed systems with a myriad of products that are meant to embody resilience and sustainability at it’s core. Our team is available to consult on projects, specifying areas where we see an opportunity for a client to maximize the possibility to achieve LEED credits. Green infrastructure products and systems provided by Hanging Gardens can help achieve LEED certifi cation goals for your project. Green roofs and on-grade stormwater management systems can qualify for LEED credits in the Sustainable Sites, Water Effi ciency, Energy Effi ciency and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, and Innovation categories. Our team will work with you to choose and integrate products that meet LEED guidelines as well as products that off er functional and aesthetically pleasing additions to your project. Look for the LEED logo on our product pages for potential LEED credits for your project.

1200Service #Systems Integration

PROJECT DEVELOPMENTCONSULTING SERVICES

After the Initial Review, Hanging Gardens will sit down for a customized Systems Integration review session with our client for the project. The Systems Integration process brings the client a step deeper into understanding the types of vegetated and stormwater management systems that we off er and dives into fi nding a system, or a compilation of several systems, that may work best for their project aesthetic and functional intent. Whether one system stands out, or a particular component of several diff erent systems appeal to our client, we work to assemble unique stormwater management systems for each project that we work on. A client will be provided with several of our system cut sheets for their reference, and in this meeting we will highlight the desirable components the client might benefi t from each system being considered. The following are also available for clients in this meeting:

At Hanging Gardens, we understand that budget is an incredibly important component to your project. Luckily, our systems are designed with budget in mind. We provide all products, in house, that our clients might need to acheive their ultimate dream design. As a supplier, we are able to provide some of the best product and system pricing in the current green infrastructure and stormwater management marketplace. In this Systems Integration meeting, we will discuss schematic budget information with our client to better understand what types of systems we can off er to fi t the bill. Based on prior discussed systems that appeal to a client, here we are able to elaborate on which systems might best fi t both the design and aesthetic the client envisions, and provide some generic budgeting information that serves as a helpful tool for narrowing down the most practical options for their project.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

The Design Integration process is the most intricate service that we off er. In our eff orts to create the most effi cient and resilient systems that are currently off ered in North America for the best price possible, we saw an important need to utilize products that have been proven time and time again. After a decade of searching the globe for products that have a proven track record, we have assembled a catalogue of over 300 products that are the basic building blocks to our line of stormwater management systems. Our design team is expertly trained in the specifi cs of each product we off er, and how each contributes to the system as a whole. It is through this unique expertise that we set ourselves apart as a company. Our staff of trained architects collaborate with a client’s architectural design team, or the client themselves, to help design, specify, and achieve a completely unique system that achieves what our client is looking for. We let our clients dream up the vision for green infrastructure and stormwater management on their project, and we take care of the specifi cs and the logistics to make that vision happen.

CONSULTING SERVICESDesign Integration

After the Systems Integration meeting has taken place, and through the exploration of some pre-fabricated systems that the Hanging Gardens’ design team has assembled, we work with the client to create a custom tailored system to meet the needs of their project. Here, our clients can sit back and relax while we integrate the necessary components to help bring their project to life before their eyes. In this session, the following documents are provided to our clients to off er an all-encompassing view of the system options available to suit their needs.

The budget is the starting point to get our clients on their way to a successful project. Hanging Gardens works off of the information gathered from the Systems Integration meeting regarding a client’s specifi c interest and their schematic budget. The Design Integration team uses this information and takes several system components that the client expressed interest in, and incorporates them into a current design. A take-off will be performed to verify the project areas, and an estimated amount of product needed for each. In our budgets, each portion of your project is broken into sections with an associated cost per square foot, meaning we provide you with a useful toolkit for staying within budget. The detailed budget document allows clients to manipulate project areas, based on the cost per square foot of each section. Each project is diff erent and will, therefore, have diff erent system options. Some of the most common options included in our budgets are:

Project drawings are assembled for each project to help ensure there is a clear understanding of system design and function. Our Design Integration team works with the project architects to ensure drawings are to scale and accurately depict the system that is to be installed based off of their original design. If a client desires, we are also capable of acting as a standalone architect on a project. Project plans may provide a bird’s eye view of your building, and the Green Infrastructure and/or Stormwater Management application. Going into closer detail, section drawings will provide an overview of how each system integrates with each other. Lastly, drawing details will hone in on specifi c points of the system to help clarify system assembly and how components of the system are composed. Our team of trained architects have you completely covered when it comes to project details, plans, and other construction documents. Drawings shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

Roof / Landscape PlansRoof / Landscape DetailsVarious Layout Plans

To help a project move along as smoothly as possible, we know that detailed specifi cations are mandatory. Architects are some of the busiest people around, and we want to make their lives easier by providing specifi cations for the entirety of our portion of the project. One size does not fi t all, and Hanging Gardens treats each project on a standalone basis. Each project has its own unique assembly required, and we want to make sure that it is done correctly. Our specifi cations ensure that your project will have the necessary guidelines for assembly.

Hanging Gardens has invested itself in trending green infrastructure nationwide. With millions of dollars of grant funding available nationwide, it is incumbent upon us to create a precedent in how this funding is utilized. We believe in performance driven green infrastructure that allows grant supervisors to receive a higher cost/benefi t ratio in regards to dollars spent versus volume of stormwater mitigated. Instilling a new ethic of performance green infrastructure, rather than just visually appealing, has allowed our systems to stand out and receive grant funding priority in many cases nationwide.

Milwaukee, Chicago, New Orleans, Seattle, and St. Louis possess amazing opportunities, through a variety of grant/incentive programs, for clients wishing to implement green infrastructure. Many cities have recently created mandatory annual thresholds of stormwater runoff that must be mitigated by green infrastructure rather than gray infrastructure such as deep tunnel systems. Within our major urban environments lies the opportunity to utilize vegetative roofi ng, rooftop urban agriculture, brownfi eld remediation, stormwater harvesting/reuse systems, etc. to reach a higher standard of onsite stormwater management through performance-based green infrastructure.
