SECTION 2 CONFIGURATION PROCEDURE
Configuration and Calibration procedures should only beperformed at field if Portable Control Board, Control Driver Boardor the High Voltage Tank are replaced or the EEPROM memoryis reset or replaced.
Configuration provides the initial settings for extended memory and checkoutprocedures that must be carried out before starting to work with the Unit.Functional characteristics of this generator are defined during Configuration.
Calibration data and some configuration data are stored in the extendedmemory area in a non-volatile memory chip (U11-EEPROM) located on thePortable Control Board.
Do not supply the main power until specifically instructed inthis document.
2.1 CONFIGURATION OF DIP SWITCHES
The Dip Switches located in the Portable Control Board (A3175-01) define theUnit configuration:

The kV values to be selected in Calibration Mode are: 40, 80, 100and 110 kVp depending on the maximum kVp of the Unit.
3.1 PRELIMINARY STEPS
1. Connect Oscilloscope CH1 between TP16 (kVp) and TP13 (GND) onPortable Control Board.
2. Connect Oscilloscope CH2 between TP15 (mA) and TP14 (GND) onPortable Control Board.
3. Configure CH1 in 2V/div and CH2 in 0.5V/div. Time base in 50ms/div;trigger in Normal mode by positive edge of CH1.
4. kVp and mA relation, measured in the Oscilloscope, is as follows:
G Kvp: 1 V = 10 kV
G mA: 1 V = 10 mA
Whenever an exposure is performed during the Calibrationprocedure, elapse aminimum of 5 seconds between “PREP”and “EXP”, this will avoid undesired loss of time.
DuringCalibration procedureCollimator bladesmust be fullyclosed until otherwise instructed in this manual.

3.2 CALIBRATION OF PARAMETERS
Before calibrating kVp Gain, a calibration of the Filament Currentfor the lowest mA station in Large Focus at 80, 40 and 110 kVp (or100 kVp) must be performed. Refer to Section 3.2.1.
3.2.1 PRELIMINARY CALIBRATION OF FILAMENT CURRENT
1. Press and hold “Collimator Lamp” push-button, then press “mAsIncrease” push-button. Release first the “mAs Increase” push-button(two beeps sound). Then release “Collimator Lamp” push-button (thekVpDisplay shows 80 or 40 or 110 or 100 and one of the Focal Spot Ledsblinks).
2. Select: 80 kVp, “LargeFocal Spot” (led blinks), and the lowestmAstationin Large Focal Spot (by pressing the mAs push-buttons). DuringCalibration mAs Display shows the mA value.
3. Make an exposure and measure kVp and mA signal values with theOscilloscope.
a. Verify that both signals are flat and noiseless.
b. If the mA value obtained is not the selected, increase or decreasethe filament current value (shown on the kVpDisplay) by pressingand holding “Collimator Lamp” push-button and “kVp Increase” or“kVp Decrease”.
4. Make an exposure again to verify that the mA value in the Oscilloscopeis the one selected; if it is not, repeat the procedure to increase ordecrease the value.
5. Once the correct mA value is reached, save the value pressing“Collimator Lamp” and “mAs Decrease” (one beep will sound and thesaved value is shown on the kVp Display). It is important to write downthis data for later reference during calibration.
Once a value for filament current is saved, the value remains inmemory for the next mA station. This feature helps to save time atentering new data for the next station.

SECTION 4 ADJUSTMENTS
4.1 ALIGNMENT OF X-RAY BEAM
1. Place the Portable Unit in vertical position. The Unit has to be perfectlyaligned with a Cassette Film for a Cassette of 24 x 30 cm. Check with alevel correct horizontal position of both parts.
The Cassette Film used for testing can be located into anHorizontal Bucky or Cassette Tray of a Table or alone.
2. Place SID at 1 meter.
3. Turn on Collimator light and center the Collimator in relation to theCassette Film. Horizontal and transverse position of the light axesprojected by the Collimator Lampmust be in line with the film axes or filmsize edges.
If needed, modify Collimator position by carefully unscrewing andscrewing the four Centering Adjustment and Security Screws (Allen) ofCollimator.

If an edge of the X-ray Field falls out of the inner rectangle means amisalignment of the Light Field respect to the X-ray Field. Themaximummisalignment allowed is 2 % of SID (for SID 1m = 2 cm tolerance).
Refer to Section 4.1.1 for alignment of Light Field with X-ray Field.

4.2 FIELD SIZE INDICATOR TEST
Before starting with the Field Size Indicator Test, the Alignment ofX-RayBeamTest and theAlignmentof LightFieldwithX-RayFieldTest should be performed.
1. Place the Portable Unit in vertical position. The Unit has to be perfectlyaligned with a Cassette Film for a Cassette of 35 x 43 cm. Check with alevel correct horizontal position of both parts.

SECTION 5 TROUBLESHOOTING
The generator contains many self-diagnostic routines which greatly facilitatestroubleshooting. The self-diagnostic functions require proper operation of themicroprocessor.
As a general rule, the first step in any troubleshooting procedure is to verifycorrect power supply voltage.
Whenever theUnit is turnedoff, wait 5minutes before turning itON
Whenever a Portable Control Board or a Control Driver Board ora High Voltage Tank is replaced, it is necessary to perform theConfiguration and Calibration procedures.
In case theEEPROMmemory has to be reset, turn on theUnit andpress and hold “kVp Increase” and “mAs Increase” at the sametimeuntil twobeepsareheard. After that, it is necessary to performthe complete Configuration and Calibration process.
