Campbell County Animal Shelter
What is Service Learning?
• Service learning is a method of learning that combines service to the community with classroom curriculum.
• It is a hands-on approach to learning and helps students fulfill their responsibility to the community in which they live.
Did You Know?
• About 63 percent of all households in the United States have a pet.
• Approximately 5 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year.
• For a wide number of reasons, many animals find themselves without a loving home.
The Service Learning Project
• The sixth grade language arts students will be working hand-in-hand with the Campbell County Animal Shelter to help care for the homeless animals of our community.
• In order to properly care for the animals at the shelter, the shelter relies on donations from the community.

Let’s Brainstorm!
• There are a number of topics that center on the need for animal shelters in our communities.
