What we did?Me and Herbert Gonzales from our grade level invited a group of orphans to my home to play and ultimately have a new experience. The orphans were all boys and the eldest of them was our age: 15. They came from the orphanage Funjesus. We brought them to my home on a Friday.
We played soccer with them, as well as ping pong. We also painted with crayons, colored pencils and paints. We got to know them, and actually connected with them through talking.

Ciudad del Niño, Villanueva
Ciudad del Niño is a totally different and innovative orphanage. It works like a small city (simply a street with several independent housheholds). Each house is in charge of a similar group of kids. For example there is a home for boys ages 10-15, babies & toddlers, and another home for pregnant teens & single young mothers. Whenever a kid grows out of a “home” he moves on to another home and so on. Afterwards if they are not adopted when they turn 18, they are given the options to receive an education in a certain skill or stay working in the orphanage.

What we did?
We went to the orphanage in two different ocassions:
The orphanage was holding a carnival for the children to have fun and ultimately experience something new. We colaborated in the event by baking 300 cupcakes for the children to eat as dessert. We took the cupcakes to the children and helped with some of the activites they where having.
Another time we took “Christmas Trees” to the orphanage. We wanted to give them a type of christmas tree that would not end up dying. So we planted some pine trees on pots. And later decorated them with small christmas decorations. We took a christmas tree to each household. With the idea that it would grow year by year, and that they could use it for every christmas.
