ASSESSMENT
Hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA), required by the ISO EN 12100
standard, is used to identify malfunctions that involve hazardous behaviours,
assess the level of risk for each hazard and formulate machinery safety
countermeasures
XEFRA supports the Manufacturers and Integrators in the following safety
concept steps:
- Assembly definition Simplification process of the HARA through the
subdivision of the assembly into functional machinery
- Incidental Scenario catalogues We have developed a catalogue of
dangerous scenarios to simplify the approach to the Hazard identification
and thus reduce the manufacturer's effort
- Safety provisions: Definition of safety provisions outside the function for
further simplification of the HARA
- Risk analysis PL and SIL apportionment and duration or frequency
definition of the level of exposure to the operator's danger, as indicated in
the standard, can be based on duration or frequency
- Job Safety Concept development of a safety layout with guards
positioning and procedure which helps integrate accepted safety and
health principles and practices into a particular task or job operation.
- Control System Concept and Safety Logic Table: on the basis of the

XEFRA provides developers and testers of safety-related machine controls with
comprehensive support in the evaluation of safety in the context of ISO 13849-1.
We support you modelling the structure of the safety-related control components
based upon the designated architectures, thereby permitting calculation of the
reliability values with various levels of detail, including that of the attained
Performance Level (PL).
Relevant parameters such as the risk parameters for determining the required
performance level (PLr), the category of the SRP/CS, measures against common-
cause failures (CCF) on multi-channel systems, the average component quality
(MTTFd) and the average test quality (DCavg) of components and blocks, are
defined in our functional safety reports.
XEFRA delivery also the following services:
- development of life cycle with validation measures that indicate how and when
the SRP/CS should be validated, for example, following a change.

IEC 62443 series - Industrial Automation Control Systems (IACS)
IEC 62443 describes cyber security requirements for all industries and is composed by four parts.
IEC 62443-3-2 sets the requirements for risk assessment leading to the identification of zones and conduits for the
IACS. Based on the detailed risk assessment for each zone and conduit, the sufficient security level target (SL-T) for
each could be determined.
The SL-T guides which requirements and enhancements in IEC 62443-3-3 that should be evaluated to ensure
sufficient countermeasures.
The steps of XEFRA assessment are:
- analysis of the security technologies implemented;
- verification of the requirements of the IACS security management system;
- determination of the SL target for components and systems;
- ability to design with a view to security;
- risk analysis;
- definition and implementation of the necessary counter measures;

Materials and components intended to come into contact with food
MOCA – Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food, refers to all items:
- that are intended to come into contact with food,
- that are already in contact with food and are intended for this purpose,
- that are expected to come into contact with food or that can transfer their components to food under
normal conditions of use.
Voluntary product verification or certification stems from a company need to ensure product conformity and
performance, in compliance with recognised regulations or proprietary standards, thereby enhancing the
value of and distinguishing their production on the market and gaining more trust from potential clients.
Requirements that can be certified must be measurable through objective parameters, certifiable by tests,
and verified by assessing and monitoring the manufacturing and verification plan of the production process,
with the purpose of ensuring conformity and initially verified quality over time.
Compliance audits conducted by a third-party body allow companies to demonstrate to the market the
correct compliance with legislative requirements, the adoption of good manufacturing practices, compliance
with the safety requirements of their products to protect human health.

OPERATION The Legislative Decree n. 81/2008 expressly refers to Legislative Decree no. 17/2010 in article 70 ("Safety
requirements") in which it was found: "The work equipment made available to workers must comply with the
specific legislative and regulatory provisions implementing the Community product directives. Companies must do
reference to RES for the assessment of risks related to machines ".
Specifically, art. 70, paragraph 4, of Legislative Decree 81/08 examines the actions of the supervisory bodies in the
case of use of CE marked equipment, for which it is assumed non-compliance with the safety requirements
provided for by the regulatory provisions of reception of European product directives.
To support companies in fulfilling the requirements for the safety of machines and work equipment, XEFRA
offers a service of Attestation of Conformity to Annexes V and VI of Legislative Decree 81/08. for the
adaptation of machines already in service which includes:
- verification of compliance with the general safety requirements referred to in Annex V of Legislative Decree
81/2008 of machines and work equipment built in the absence of legislative provisions (Article 70 of Legislative
Decree 81/2008);
- analysis of machinery and work equipment to verify compliance with the applicable laws and regulations on
safety;
- analysis of safety procedures to operate on machines and work equipment pursuant to art. 33 of Legislative
Decree. 81/2008;
- training of workers on the safe use of machinery and work equipment (Articles 37 and 73 of Legislative Decree
81/2008.

TESTING
LABORATORY Xefra was born as a test laboratory for product conformity and for automotive
industries we provide test capabilities as per following list:
- EMC RF test lab: we conduct radiated emission, conducted emission,
radiated immunity, conducted immunity, fast transients in burts, electrostatic
discharges. The laboratory is equipped with a semi-anechoic chamber 4.5
meters high and 6 meters long.
- Noise test lab: We offer several test in acoustic domain, included
propagation of sound waves, characterisation of solid noise transmission is
made by measuring dynamic transmissibility, noise power measurement. The
laboratory is equipped with a reverberation room 4.5 meters high and 220
mc of internal volume.
- Vibration test lab: with the Electrodynamic Vibration Shaker System we
perform X, Y, Z axis sinusoidal, random and shock vibration up to load of
100kg.
- Electrical safety test: insulation design verification and testing, protection
against electrical hazard.
- Fire test lab: burning behaviour and reaction of materials and products.
- Environmental simulation lab: in our lab we simulate environmental stress
such as resistance to cold and hot (included damp heat), resistance to liquid
and dust, salt fog chests and corrosive gas testing systems.
