ServeManager and the NYC DCA:

“We thoroughly examined the rules and regulations in New York City and were in communication with the DCA while building the software. New York City has set a precedent for the rules and requirements that will follow in other states. In addition, process serving audits and compliance are being mandated by clients in the financial sector. Process servers everywhere need to make sure their technology and operations are prepared for legislative changes and the needs of their clients.”

The NYC DCA Electronic Device Rule

As of November 12, 2011, process servers must carry and operate an electronic device that records Global Positioning System (GPS) location while serving process. !• Process servers must use a mobile device to log serves, making an electronic

record of the date, time, and location where process is served using GPS. !

• The device must transmit a completed record automatically to an independent third party contractor software provider.

!• The third party contractor must store the electronic records for seven years

without allowing access for the process server to alter the original records. The contractor must also make the electronic records available to DCA upon request.
