Servant Thoughts As I write this article, we are approaching our first ever Trinity Serves Sunday which

will be on the last Sunday in June. I am hopeful that this will be a special day for

those who are involved and that it will be a blessing to those who are recipients of

our service. Some may not even notice what it is that we are doing, but that doesn’t

mean it won’t matter or that our Lord won’t be able to use these acts of service. That

is the wonderful thing about our service, sometimes God accomplishes amazing

things and we don’t even realize it. Read Jesus’ parable of the goats and sheep in

Matthew 25 and you’ll see what I mean. Those who were followers of Jesus, the

sheep on his right, are surprised to discover that when they were just going about

their daily lives, doing random acts of service to others, the Lord was counting it as

service to Him. “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to

one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” (Matthew 25:40, ESV) So

remember Trinity Serves is not just about this one Sunday. It’s about all you do in

service to the Lord and to others.

Along those lines, I want to let you know about a special time coming up in August

where we will hear some exciting things about being Consecrated Stewards. For

some of you who’ve been around awhile, you might remember that Consecrated

Stewards was shared at Trinity many years ago. Beginning in August, we will have

the opportunity to be a part of Consecrated Stewards: The Journey Continues. You’ll

be hearing more about this in upcoming bulletins and the August newsletter. I hope

you will be a part of this special focus.

One last little item… the work on our remodel continues and is progressing well.

Look for a page of some pictures that shows some of the work that began the first

week in June and that should continue through July. We will be celebrating it’s

conclusion as we also have a Celebration Sunday as a part of Consecrated

Stewards, so mark your calendars for August 25th!

Pastor Bill’s Musings

Dear Christian Friends,

Dealing with deceased parent’s keepsake’s and other possessions is difficult to say the very least. Jackie and I, as

well as many of you, have been confronted with this problem in recent years. What is important to a parent is not

always important to their descendants, yet the descendants want to honor the parent. Therefore, since we ourselves

are not getting younger, we have decided that we should begin to downsize. Now we deal with what to keep and

what to get rid of. The problem is we are both hoarders and suffer from that malady of, “That might come in handy

someday”. However, if we don’t want to have our children spending a great deal of time making decisions for us, we

need to do it now.

What the underlying problem is, and we are not unique, we put way too much value on our material possessions.

We collect so many things and we soon lose things that are really important in all of the clutter. We fix our eyes on

these and often put Jesus on the back burner.

A few weeks ago, Pastor Rob gave me a reprint of an article concerning downsizing and getting rid of the things that

are creating distractions from the important things. I am sad to say, that I began to read this article, didn’t finish, and

now I can’t find it because of all the clutter in my office. Perfect example of the need to get rid of some things.

Jesus says, in Luke 14:33 Therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

Jesus isn’t saying that Christians have to get rid of their material possessions and live as poor. No, what He really is

saying is, we should get rid of the distractions and pleasures which lead us away from or interferes with our relation-

ship with him. Then we can fulfill Matthew 6:33 (ESV) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and

all these things will be added to you. There you will find real treasure.

Happy house cleaning,
