MEANING (LESS): “Death is Grace”

Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:3Sermon notes @ http://bible.com/e/138C

Page 43: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:3Moreover, I saw under the sun that in the place of justice, even there was wickedness, and in the place of righteousness, even there was

wickedness. 17 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a

time for every matter and for every work. 18 I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts.

Page 44: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

19 For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as

one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over

the beasts, for all is vanity. 20 All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all

return.21 Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes

down into the earth? 22 So I saw that there is nothing better than that a man should

rejoice in his work, for that is his lot. Who can bring him to see what will be after him?

Page 45: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

4 Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there

was power, and there was no one to comfort them. 2 And I thought the dead who are

already dead more fortunate than the living who are still alive. 3 But better than both is he who has not yet been and has not seen the

evil deeds that are done under the sun.

Page 46: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

Gospel Application:1)What about Judgment do we resist and

fight against?

2) Are we actively allowing oppression to continue in the physical and spiritual realm?

3) How will the Gospel cause us to pray against the devil and for all those made in

the image of God?

Do this in remembrance of me…

Page 52: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

2 Corinthians 9:7Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion,

for God loves a cheerful giver.

Page 53: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

1 Corinthians 11:23-26For I received from the Lord what I also

delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and

when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this

in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup

is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of

me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's

death until he comes.

Grace AloneI was an orphan, lost at the fall.

Running away when I’d hear You call; But Father, You worked Your will.

Page 56: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

I had no righteousness of my own.I had no right to draw near Your throne.

But Father, You loved me still.

Page 57: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

And in love before You laid the world’s foundation. You predestined to adopt me as Your own.

You have raised me up so high above my station.I’m a child of God by grace and grace alone.

Page 58: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

You left Your home to seek out the lost; You knew the great and terrible cost.

But Jesus, Your face was set.

Page 59: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

I worked my fingers down to the bone; But nothing I did could ever atone,

But Jesus You paid my debt.

Page 60: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

By Your blood I have redemption and salvation.

Lord, You died that I might reap what You have sown.,

And you rose that I might be a new creation.

I am born again by grace and grace alone.

Page 61: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

I was in darkness all of my life.I never knew the day from the night.

But Spirit, You made me see.

Page 62: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

I swore I knew the way on my own;Head full of rocks, a heart made of stone;

But Spirit, You moved in me.

Page 63: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

And at Your touch my sleeping spirit was awakened;

On my darkened heart the light of Christ has shone.

Called into a kingdom that cannot be shaken;

Heaven’s citizen by grace and grace alone.

Page 64: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

So I’ll stand in faith by grace and grace alone.

I will run the race by grace and grace alone.

I will slay my sin by grace and grace alone.I will reach the end by grace and grace

alone!

At the Foot of the CrossAt the foot of the cross there’s salvation

By the blood of a pure sacrificeBy the body broken for you and for meBy the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Page 75: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

A Father You are to the hopeless,Strength You are to the weak.

Failures become perfection in you.At the foot of the cross we are free.

Page 77: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

At the foot of the cross we find freedom.

In the death of ourselves there is life.By mercy we’re free to live in the

kingdomBy the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Page 78: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

In the end we will walk Your glory - In the end unveiled as Your bride.

All the glorious things all gifts from the King;

At the foot of the cross where it starts.

My God, My FatherMy God, My Father while I stray,

Far from my home I life’s rough way.Oh! Teach me from my heart to say:

“Thy will be done!”

Page 83: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

Though dark my path, and sad my lot,Let me be still, and murmur not,

Or breathe the prayer divinely taught,“Thy will be done!”

Page 84: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

But if my fainting heart be blessed,With the Holy Spirit for its guest,My God, to Thee I leave the rest:

“Thy will be done!”

Page 85: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

If Thou should call me to resign,What most I prize – ‘twas never mine;

I only yield Thee what is Thine:“Thy will be done!”

“Thy will be done!”

Page 86: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

Renew my will from day to dayBlend it with Thine and take awayAll that now makes it hard to say:

“Thy will be done!”(2x)

Page 87: Sermon notes @ http :// bible/e/138C

Then when on earth I breathe no more,The prayer oft mixed with tears before,

I’ll sing upon that joyful shore,“Thy will be done!”
