COLUMBUS COUNTY
NCDOT will conduct a public meeting regarding a study that will explore the feasibility of infrastructure and access improvements to the R.J. Corman Carolina Lines via CSXT to the Port of Wilmington.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is conducting a feasibility Study to examine options for extending direct rail service from Columbus County to Wilmington. The study will examine the concept of re-establishing a connection between the R.J. Corman Rail-road, CSX railroad and the N.C. State Port in Wilmington.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday May 10, at Southeastern Community College (T Building, Room 120) located at 4564 Chadbourn Hwy in Whiteville from 4 to 7 p.m. NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal, open house-style setting to answer questions and gather public input regarding the proposed study. The opportunity to submit written comments or ques-tions will be provided, and is encouraged. Citizens may attend at any time during the meeting hours. There will be no formal presentation.
