6. ConstructionUPS Series 200 pumps are of the canned-rotor type, i.e. pump and motor form an integral unit without shaft seal and with only two gaskets for sealing. The bearings are lubricated by the pumped liquid.Attention has been focused on using as few materials as possible, and the use of materials that might cause problems in connection with disposal have been omitted.The mechanical design corresponds to that of UPE pumps.The pump features:• Three-speed motor.

Note: Korean pumps are single-speed pumps.• Aluminium-oxide radial bearings.• Carbon thrust bearing.• Stainless-steel rotor can, bearing plate and rotor cladding.• Stator housing in aluminium alloy.• Cast-iron or bronze pump housing.• Stator with built-in thermal overload switch.

11. Start-upThe pump must not be started until the system has been filled with liquid and vented. Furthermore, the required inlet pressure must be available at the pump inlet, see section 14.1 System and inlet pressures. The system cannot be vented through the pump.As the pump is self-venting, it need not be vented before start-up.Note: If the inspection screw is to be loosened anyhow, see fig. 20, care should be taken to ensure that the escaping, scalding hot liquid does not cause personal injury or damage to components.

12. Selection of speed (Japan only)The speed switch in the terminal box has three positions. The speed in the three positions appears from the table below:

Change to a lower speed enables considerable reduction in energy consumption and less noise in the system.

The pump speed is changed as follows:1. Switch off the electricity supply to the pump by means of the external mains switch.

The green light in the terminal box must be off.2. Remove the terminal box cover.3. Pull out the speed switch module and insert it so that the number of the required speed

is visible.Note: When changing to/from speed 1, the cover of the speed switch module must be removed and fitted on the other side of the module.4. Fit the terminal box cover.5. Switch on the electricity supply. 6. Check that the green indicator light is permanently on/flashing.
