Greetings from LumenSoft,

Being a little courteous doesn’t hurt anyone. And what better way to show courtesy to your customers than the old fashioned ‘Thank you’! And it is good business sense too.

In Candela retail software, you can actually configure some charming messages for your customers like thank you texts or texts about your new stock or sale campaigns. You can be as creative with your text messages as you want to.

Business owners and managers can also configure Candela RMS to receive SMS whenever important business functions are carried out. For example, you can configure the system to send you a message whenever a new invoice is made, when physical audit is saved, or STR is made, or when adjustment is given, etc. You can also configure messages for your vendors like information about a new purchase order, cancellation of an order, etc.You only have to configure the messages once and Candela RMS will automate the entire process.

Your feedback shows that many of you are already using the SMS feature with great results. Some of you have also asked for even cheaper SMS rates. To make things easier for you, we have recently made a contract with another SMS service provider to help you send SMS at still cheaper rates. The details are as follows:

Nothing like our customer feedback to inspire us to do our best! As always, we look forward to hearing from you and receiving your feedback plus suggestions. Connect with us on facebook, twitter, or write to us at [email protected]

Happy Retailing

It’s New

You may want to sell certain item, like loose fabric, in decimal quantities; and at the same time, you may not require decimal quantities for selling products like readymade garments, shoes etc.

Now a new feature in release 12012 allows you to do so. There is a new checkbox on the Line Item screen, ‘Allow Decimal.’ Mark this checkbox for the line items that you want to sell in decimal quantities. Update.

Keep this checkbox unchecked for the line items that you don’t want to sell in decimal quantities.

Make a point here.

Note: To  be able to use Allow Decimal point feature on Line Item screen, you must mark the check box Enable Line Item Based Decimal Points in Qty on System Configuration>Sale tab Note: The system will pick the number of decimal points as selected in Decimal Point in Qty field on System Configuration>Product/STR screen

2. it’s NewYou can receive payments against your sales via various methods: cash, credit, credit cards. If at the time of POS closing or cash closing you want to see details of the payments received along with their modes of payment, a new feature in release 12011 allows you to do so.

On the System Configuration>Sale tab, mark the checkbox ‘allow multiple payments.’ Update. Log off and log in again.

On the POS closing and daily closing screens there is a print icon. Click it.

The printed report will show complete details of payments received against sales along with the modes of payment.

Did you Know?

You can easily save, show and print high-resolution images on the screens and also on reports that display images. You just have to mark one checkbox on Configuration>System configuration>Product/STR tab. There is a checkbox on this screen ‘Save High Quality Images.’ Check it. Update

Page 10: September newsletter

However, because high-res images are bigger in size you will need more space on your drive where the images are saved.

Note: Images are saved with products on Product Definition screen. Once saved, they appear on sales and return screen, sales reports (C-11), PO report, Product report (G-08), stock reports (D-31, D-32)

Ask our Techie

Dear Techie,

I am an apparel retailer and have recently started using Candela POS. As you had told me I began by creating departments or line items. For my business requirements I created two separate departments for boys and girls garments.

Products for both these line items require different sizes and colors. But when I went to the product definition scree, I couldn’t find the Size and color grid! What went wrong?

Dear Retailer-who-is a –Candela POS Newbie

Calm down. There is nothing wrong. The big size and color grid on the product definition screen depends upon a tiny checkbox for its working. And you ignored it! While defining every line item with size and color you need to mark the check box ‘with size and color.’When you define products under the line items, this checkbox becomes un-editable. Now to remedy the situation, you will have to delete the products defined under those line items; then go to the line item screen, select the line from the list view and mark ‘with size and color’ checkbox against it. Update.

This will solve your problem. Stay happy.

Yours in retail,

Candela Techie

This too is Happening

Technology entrepreneur Bryan Johson is determined to keep ‘humans front and center as we progress.’

This, according to him, would require finding a way to super charge the human brain so that it can keep pace with the machines.

This is exactly what is being done at Bryan Johson’s startup Kernel. Kernel is building a tiny chip that can be implanted in the brain to help people suffering from neurological damage caused by strokes, Alzheimer’s or concussions.

They are calling this chip neuroprosthetic.

In the long run, the neuroprosthetic is also expected to be able to boost intelligence, memory and other cognitive tasks.

Our future generations will live in a ‘Brave New World’!

Researchers at the DEF CON security conference in Las Vegas have shown the potential risk of hacking that charging stations and un-secured Wi-Fi hot spots at airports and other public places carry. Hackers are shown to have rigged the USB cord that hack data including PIN, bank passwords, personal emails and texts.

The experts suggest that even plugging in your phone to a friend’s connection can be dangerous because the friend’s phone might be infected. Thus the best practice is to carry a personal portable charger instead of using public charging stations.
