PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE This month’s Luncheon meeting had as guest speaker, Larry Cope. Some of you ladies may

have heard Larry speak before, but he always has new information to share about businesses

in the county. His current project, “The Innovation Lab and Maker Space” recently had their

open house. They are located in the former Tuolumne General Hospital space. It’s a place

where people with common interests in science, technology, digital or electronic skills can

meet, socialize and collaborate. Such innovation and maker spaces, part of the DIY or

"maker" culture, are community-operated physical places, where people can meet and work

on their projects.

He states that “The reason we’re doing all of this is we want businesses to start, build, grow

and stay in Tuolumne County,” Cope said. “We want to develop an economic base of startup

businesses that flow out of the Innovation Lab.” It is the first of its kind in a rural community

in California & the US!

The meeting went well, but we are still missing quite a few faces! We want to see our mem-

bers and get to know all of you, so please make an effort to attend a luncheon or dinner

meeting. Our business themed meetings have ended this year, but coming up we will be hav-

ing a Cooking Class (always fun, you don’t have to cook to participate), our wonderful Soiree

(save the date cards/tickets are now available), our Installation (sad for me) and our Holiday

Party! That doesn’t mean networking has stopped though, in fact sometimes the social

events provide more contacts then the business meetings!

Hope to see you all very soon, Linda Schooley, TCWN PresidentLinda Schooley, TCWN PresidentLinda Schooley, TCWN PresidentLinda Schooley, TCWN President

NETWORKING TIP - from Linda Schooley

When it comes to social media marketing, you need to answer a few fundamental questions:

• Should your business be on social media?

• What networks should you choose?

• How do you create a great profile?

• What type of content should you post, and when should you post it?

Everyone must answer these questions, including business owners who want to create a

strategy for their own business, marketing managers who need to convince their CEO to

invest in social media and consultants who create strategies for clients in a wide variety

of industries.

Fortunately, you can find answers through the process of competitor research.

Keep reading to discover how to get insight on your competitors…

SPOTLIGHT—Gat Slor SPOTLIGHT—Gat Slor

My name is Gat (pronounced "Got") Slor, I am an independent associate with

LegalShield, and I also teach private Hebrew lessons, since I was born in Israel

and Hebrew is my native language. My family and I moved to the U.S. when I

was five, and I've had the privilege of traveling and living in different parts of

the world, and at this point I've lived in northern California longer than any-

where else in my life. My husband Eddie brought me to Tuolumne County from

the bay area about three and a half years ago, and although I resisted the

move at first, I now really enjoy living here because of the relaxed pace,

friendly people, natural beauty, and no traffic!

I was introduced to LegalShield by a former co-worker in the bay area, and I

love it because I get to educate and help people have access to affordable

legal services that they may never have known about. When I'm not working,

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, travel, movies, hiking, reading and networking. I enjoy the

Women's Network because we get a chance to support each other as women, have a special space for fun and

creativity together, and I enjoy being on the board because we get to make a difference "behind the scenes" and

plan events that can help our local women business owners.

I am proud of the fact in a short period of time, I have become known as one of the main LegalShield representa-

tives in the county, LegalShield is paying me $500 a month to drive a BMW (the fanciest car I've ever had) and I

recently earned an all-expense paid trip (along with my husband) to Jamaica by being one of the top 400 produc-

ers in the company! I am grateful to do what I love in such a great place to live.
