September Events @ TMORA Fall Exhibitions Opening Celebration: September 15, 6:30-8:30pm Members Free, Regular admission applies, cash bar TMORA welcomes the community back with a packed Fall exhibition calendar. The artists from both shows opening will be present and available for conversations & interviews. “From Non-Conformism to Feminisms: Russian Women Artists from the Kolodzei Art Foundation” o Unprecedented window into three generations of non-conformist women artists, tracing history from the 1950s to present day. o Natalia and Tatiana Kolodzei founded the collection in 1991, preserving this lineage during the Soviet collapse. This globally-unique set of 7000+ works reflects 300 Russian women artists. o Paintings, sculptures, digital, multimedia, & interactive installations. o See: Sunday gallery talk by the Kolodzei’s. “Inside the Beehive: Art of Garen Bedrossian” o Ecological art spans media in examining the relationship between bees, humans, and the environment. o Garen Bedrossian is an Armenian-Canadian artist who has focused on global human concerns, exhibiting in Europe, Asia, and the US. o Garen will be present and available for conversations & interviews. “Faces of Change: Artistic Expression by Natalia Berglund” o This pop-up opened with a smash on August 25 and closes September 23. o Highly popular and contemporary paintings, combining themes from feminine portraiture and 19 th century iconography. Link: https://tmora.org/event/tmora-fall-exhibitions-opening-celebration/ A Glimpse into the History of Russian Women Artists: A Presentation by Natalia and Tatiana Kolodzei, 6:00-7:30pm Members Free, $10/Adult, $5/Student The founders of the Kolodzei Art Foundation, Natalia and Tatiana Kolodzei created one of the world’s only initiatives to collect, document, and advocate for the contributions of non-conformist Russian women artists during a period of intense struggle in the Soviet Union. They successfully preserved this legacy during the collapse of the Soviet Union, and today work to educate and disseminate information about the art and movement in which they participated as artists, and today lead.
