    Zito earned top honors while bowl-

    ing in the Monday 3-Man League at

    Farmingdale Lanes when he tossed

    games of 227 and 247 before post-

    ing a 300 game to earn the sessions

    high series honors with a 774.

    Charles Drakeford came close to

    perfection when he tossed a 297

    game then added games of 225 and

    212 to finish with an impressive

    734 set.

    Blasted 300 at Maple Lanes

    took the spotlight rolling a pair of

    perfectos in the Heineken Summer

    Trio at Holiday Bowl. His three-

    game set of 300-300-257 gave him

    a high series of 857 then he added

    a 199 game for a 4-game tally of

    1056 to lead all bowlers in gameand set.

    Dave Nagelhout pitched a dupli-

    cate 246 on his way to posting a

    947 series and Nick Wells bowled

    268-245-941 followed by Al

    Winkler 245-247-930, Mike

    Mullin 258-239-929, Eric Cornog

    263-234-923, Jim Zimmerman

    256-236-905, Pat Powell 258-227-

    904, Vince Babcock 249-237-891and Eric Nilson with a 245 game

    in a 889 series.

    BROOKLYN, NY - Michael

    Martell, 13 years old, shot his first

    300 game while rolling in Summer

    league play at Maple Lanes.

    Michael continued to roll well and

    finished that session with an

    impressive 739 series. He is one of

    the youngest to ever shoot 300 at

    Maple Lanes.

    In other Maple youth play Gary

    Pacheco led the teens with a 256

    game in a 628 set followed by

    Christina Kaye rolling 214-606

    and Alexandra Shock 221/535.

    Leading the Juniors was

    Anthony Mastroianni tossing 168,

    Justin DeCicco 167 and Nicole

    Pelletiere pitched a 148 game

    STRATFORD, N.J. - Ryan Shafer of Horseheads,

    N.Y., defeated Matt OGrady of South Amboy,

    N.J., 203-187, to win the Hurricane Irene-short-

    ened Professional Bowlers Association East

    Region Mil-Ray Foods Open at 30 Strikes.

    Shafer threw the final four strikes to force

    OGrady to double in the 10th frame. OGrady,

    who had lost his ball reaction, switched balls in

    an attempt to regain his carry, but the result was a

    4-6-7-10 big four split, handing Shafer his 17th

    career regional ti t le.

    The tournament, originally scheduled to end

    Sunday, was shortened to a one-day event due to

    the impending landfall of Hurricane Irene. Shafer

    earned $2,500 for the win while OGrady, who

    reinstated his membership on Friday prior to

    entering, earned $1,250 as the runner-up.

    Shafer defeated John Furey of East Windor,

    N.J. , 255-247, and OGrady defeated Brian

    LeClair of Athens, N.Y., 257-224, in the semifinal

    round.

    Furey and LeClair each earned $800 as semifinal

    round losers.

    In the round of 8 where in the best of three games,

    losers eliminated and earned $650 each Shafer def.

    Hugh Miller Wins PBA Senior Dayton ClassicHis Second Career Senior Tour Title

    DAYTON, Ohio HughMiller of Seattle, Wash.,

    defeated ProfessionalBowlers Association Hall ofFamer Tom Baker, 234-227,in the title match to win the

    PBA Senior Dayton Classic atCapri Lanes.

    Leading throughout thematch, Miller gave Baker a

    chance to get back in it whenhe threw a 7-10 split in theninth frame but Baker wasntable to capitalize on the

    opportunity. Miller notchedhis second career Senior Tourtitle in the final event of theseason with a spare in the10th frame.

    I had a good look thewhole match but I just didntthrow a good shot in thatframe, said Miller, who also

    owns seven career PBA Tourtitles. Thats just somethingyou really dont like to do,especially in the title match.

    I used one ball all day whichenabled me to play straightdown the lane which has been

    my game for 30 years.Millers previous best finish

    this season was second in the

    Senior Northern CaliforniaClassic back in June.

    Ive finished second severaltimes since I last won on the

    Senior Tour, said Miller,

    whose first Senior Tour title

    came in 2008. It feels goodto be back in the w inners cir-cle.

    In the semifinal round,

    Baker defeated recentlycrowned 2011 Senior Playerof the Year Ron Mohr ofEagle River, Alaska, 238-

    181, thwarting Mohrs effortto become the first to winfive Senior Tour titles in aseason.

    Mohr clinched his secondSenior Player of the Yearhonor by winning a record-tying fourth tournament ofthe season in the Senior

    Jackson (Mich.) Open lastweek. In addition to his fourtitles, Mohr also registeredtwo seconds, two thirds, a

    fourth and a 13th-place finishduring the season.

    In the other semifinal, Millerdefeated Paul Gerard of

    Cincinnati, 268-202 to advanceto the title match.
