  • "Scott Walker, the presidential candidate who is famous for riding a Harley, dropped out of the race. Walker made the decision when he realized that all of his supporters could fit on his Harley." ~ Conan O'Brien

"Political experts say it is increasingly likely that the federal government will be forced to shut down on October 1st due to the dispute over Planned Parenthood funding. Thats right ironically if lawmakers dont fund Planned Parenthood, there is no Plan B." ~ Seth Myers

"Researchers in Japan have found that several species of ape can remember and recall plot details from movies. Then there are the less advanced species of ape who whisper to you, Whos that guy? ~ Seth Myers

"Republican candidate Jeb Bush is struggling to get traction against Donald Trump. Trump is even dominating in Jeb's home state of Florida, where the former governor is behind by 15 points. That makes sense that Florida likes Trump they're used to life-size cartoon characters with giant heads." ~ Stephen Colbert

The Glasgow City-County Library is pleased to announce that historian, storyteller, and award-winning author Ellen Baumler will be at the Library on Wednesday, October 7th for a special story-telling session called Ghostly Gathering. History and the supernatural are the canvas for this program that intertwines the past with the present. Baumler weaves a ghostly web in a thought-provoking journey to Montanas most spirited places. Basing her true stories on firsthand accounts, personal interviews, and historical records, her well-researched tales have scared and delighted audiences of all ages. Haunted places include hotels, houses, cemeteries, mines, and historic landscapes across Montana. With a ghostly twist on history, Baumler captures Montanas cultural heritage and brings the states supernatural past to life. Ellen Baumler earned her Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in English, classics, and history. She has been the Montana Historical Societys interpretive historian since 1992 and is the author of numerous books and dozens of articles on diverse topics. Her stories of the supernatural have been collected in four books: Spirit Tailings, Beyond Spirit Tailings, Montana Chillers (for younger readers) and Haunted Helena. In addition to these books, the Glasgow City-County Library also carries: Dark Spaces, Montana Place Names from Alzada to Zortman, Montana Moments and More Montana Moments. Baumler is currently collecting stories for a fifth book on Montanas haunted places and invites the audience to share their experiences at the story-telling session. Ghostly Gathering will begin at 7:00 PM, is free to the public, and geared towards teens adults. For more information, please stop by or contact the library at 228-2731.

Letter to the Buzz1. HOW and WHY? We hearken, take heed, and herald HAPPENINGS in an effort to inform, warn, and protect the Good People of St. Marie.2. There have been, are now, WRONGS committed, and potentially future ones exist....specifically UNETHICAL and at times ILLEGAL business practices. These instances have been investigated, discovered, and ruled upon by Attorneys and Judges....additionally by a 35 year veteran U.S. Congressional Oversight Fraud Investigator and CBO Auditor.3. This is reality and is SUBSTANTIATED by signed proposals and contracts, County filed stamped documents, Investigations, Court documents, and Judges evidence, discovery, and rulings.4. WHY do some scheming scammers do what they do? Who knows? Some say GREED, while others are of the opinion that some are driven, get satisfaction, and achieve A High. Those that proclaim to be sharp businessmen are just F.O.C. 5. Due Diligence is trying to defend the Good People from the negative effects and harm caused by some hooligans operating unethically. Is it possible that the newly arrived Evangelist John (who preaches that its easy to do whats right) can turn these few foolish folks? The Truth Always Prevails, but Some People Cant Handle The Truth! ~ Nick Chiechi*additional opinions, questions welcomed*

A Polish immigrant went to the DMV to apply for a drivers license. First, of course, he had to take an eyesight test. The optician showed him a card with the letters: C Z W I X N O S T A C Z. Can you read this? the optician asked. Read it? the Polish guy replied, Heck, I know the guy.

I have been working on how to compose this for over two years. I guess there is no right or wrong way to express how I feel about this community. Let me start at the beginning. It is hard to describe how it felt when Kathie got the diagnosis of ALS. I have always been one that is up to a challenge. I saw this no differently. I found out soon that modern medicine had no treatment for ALS. That meant that we just have to explore other alternatives. Looking back now it might have been better to start that process sooner but I have no regrets. I asked her if there was anything she wanted to do, cruise, trip etc. She said she would like to stay home and drink coffee, do the crossword puzzles in The Buzz and not worry about gaining any weight. So, that is what we did. The first few months went by and the incredible progression of the disease became apparent. We had been in contact with several naturopaths and were following their protocols. There were times, initially, that indicated we were on the right path. Hopeful. In retrospect it was just slowing the progression but we took anything we could. We went to a clinic in Dallas, talked with doctors in Pennsylvania and contacted as many resources as we could find. Needless to say these treatments were very expensive and health insurance didnt pay for any of it. Im sure I am not the only one that would rather be on the giving end of a benefit. Being on the receiving end means there is a problem for sure. Things got to a point to where I really didnt have much of a choice. I wont try and name all that helped because the list would be too long. I would surely forget some and I know that there were contributions made that I am not even aware of. The VFW was my rock. Incredible people! Auzzy did the auctioneering not once but

Letter to the BuzzSo long, Santa we love you too!

twice and donated all his time, as did musicians from Glasgow, Malta and Jordan. My friend Chad came up from Billings and put on a feed of ribs, brisket and beans. All the people that made pies for the pie auction and the businesses in the community that donated. The VFW Ladies auxiliary. The generosity of this community is without equal. I dont remember the monetary totals from the benefits but I remember the look on Kathies face when she came to grips with the fact that all of you were there for her. She was a very humble and unassuming person. Your generosity and compassion touched her deeply. It has taken me some time to realize that there was a benefit I hadnt counted on either. In the beginning of this process I was an angry man. Wanted to blame something or someone. Being powerless when someone I love needs something and there is nothing I can do about it generates a lot of anger for me. I still dont like that feeling. However, time is a great healer and my anger has dissipated. As I look back now all of your support was instrumental in helping me with that acceptance. It was two years ago in July that Kathie left this world. I have lost parents, grandparents, good friends and aunts and uncles. None of them has left a hole in my heart like losing her. Now it is time to start the next chapter. Family becomes more and more important as time goes by. I have two children and two grandchildren that live in Billings. That seems to be the place I need to be now. Life goes on doesnt it? I sold my home here and bought a place in Billings. I will be moving there early next month. Many years ago my grandmother died and it occurred to me that I didnt get to tell her that I loved her before she passed. Made my mind up then that I would do my best to tell those that are important to me how I feel about them while they can still hear me. So with that in mind, till we meet again, thank you, I love you all. ~ Jim Jensen

  • Scotties begin a new season The Glasgow football team continued its scoring drought this past Friday night as Fairfield rolled out to a 35-0 halftime lead and blanked the Scotties 42-0, the Eagles third shut-out of the season in chalking up 171 points to their opponents two points. Its been an extremely tough non-conference schedule for the Scotties to say the least. They havent scored since September 4th when they hosted Glendive (following a Glasgow safety, the Scotties held a 15-14 late in the 4th quarter before the Red Devils scored the winning TD with less than two minutes left in regulation). But theyre looking to change that around as their conference schedule begins this Friday night as they host Wolf Point for Scotty Homecoming. It should be a good match-up and, despite either teams record, the winner of this game is likely headed to the Class B Playoffs with the Malta Mustangs, whose only loss was their season opener to Huntley Project in a 28-27 battle. The Scotties are 0-5 while the Wolves are 2-3 with losses to Forsyth (43-8), Baker (38-6) and Colstrip (39-0). They won their past two games over Poplar (60-6) and Harlem (62-22). The community is urged to get involved with Scotty Homecoming Spirit Week which includes the Saskatoon Police Pipes & Drums during the parade and football game. If the Scotsmen can get a win over the Wolves, they could go 3-0 in the conference standings before hosting the Mustangs in the final game of the regular season.
