Nursery Workers NeededNursery Workers NeededNursery Workers NeededNursery Workers Needed Volunteers are always needed for the VPC nursery. If you would like to serve in this minis-try for VPC, please notify Mona in the office or Jerri Jo Tackett, nursery coordinator (859.230.5238), [email protected] that you are interested in volunteering for nursery duty. The more volunteers we have the fewer Sun-days you are asked to serve. The parents of our babies and toddlers are so appreciative of your time and the opportunity they have to worship without worry for their child. A requirement for nursery volunteer is to be Safe Child trained; it is simple and little time is required to be trained. You may contact Linder Jaeckels (859.533.0320), lmjaeckels@ gmail.com for information on Safe Child training.
We are delighted to welcome Jordan Molla to her new position of Communica-tions Coordinator. Jordan will continue to serve as the Children’s Ministry Coordi-nator. We look forward to working with Jordan in her new role.
The Living Word Sunday School class will resume on Sunday,
October 4, at 9:15 a.m. The class meets in the Ladies Parlor.

OCTOBER 2015
Stock Donation Directions There are considera-ble tax advantages to do-nating appreciated invest-ments to the church. An investment account is maintained with Ray-mond James, The Rick-etts Group, in Louisville, to hold individual stocks. Following are instructions for donating stock to the church.
• Ask your broker to electronically transfer shares to the church’s account with Ray-mond James. Simply contact your bro-ker, give him/her the following infor-mation and instructions concerning the securities and the number of shares to transfer. o Raymond James DTC No. 0725 o VPC Account No. 26124282 o Contact name: Karen Kopatz (502-
560-1224) After you have given your broker or mutual fund company instructions to transfer invest-ments to the church, please inform the financial recorder of your donation. This will alert the fi-nancial recorder that the church is receiving a donation and ensure that you receive proper documentation for your tax records. Per IRS guidelines, the church recognizes your contri-bution at the average price that the security traded during the day it was received. You will also need to instruct the financial recorder should you wish to place any restrictions on the use of your donation.
Thank you, VPC Finance Committee
Do you know someone who could use a warm hug and a prayer? “Heartstrings” Shawl Min-istry has beautiful hand-crafted prayer shawls and chem caps to give to people who are suffering a health crisis, loss of a loved one or other personal hardship. If you know someone who would be touched by a pray-
er shawl, please contact Lois Gaines. Prayer shawl request cards can be found in the litera-ture rack in the Welcome Center, and next to the prayer shawl display in the sanctuary. “Heartstrings” is a ministry of the congrega-tional care committee. See the shawl display in the front of the sanctuary.
Remember your church family with a card and a note. Each week in the e-news you'll see the names and addresses of a few people who would love to hear from you. Please let them know you're thinking of them. Greeting
cards are available on the donation station in the Welcome Center free-of-charge.
VPC Nursery services are available for children ages 3 and under during the 10:00 service. Chil-dren age 4 and older are encouraged to attend Children's Church.
Everybody needs a little help once in a while. VPC volunteers are ready to give you an occa-sional hand with small household projects, light outdoor tasks and even respite care. Contact Penny Evans (879-8967 or Evans-penelope@ gmail.com) and we’ll do our best to match your need with a volunteer.
Stripping/Waxing of Floors The floors throughout the church facility will be stripped and waxed Thursday, October 1 - Saturday, October 3. Certain areas may not be available during that time (hallway by the kitch-en, Fellowship Hall, Welcome Center). If you need access to those areas, please contact Mo-na in the office for more information.
