FROM PASTOR RON.... SEPTEMBER 25, 2013 “But while Joseph was there in prison, the Lord was with him…” (Genesis 39:20,21) “If there was ever a man who had the right to be bitter toward God and man, it was Joseph. Cruelly sold into slavery by his brothers, unjustly placed in an Egyptian prison by an unscrupulous woman, then abandoned and forgotten by ungrateful cell mates, most of us would understand if he were to have thrown up his hands in anger and despair. He didn’t, of course. Instead of giving up, he stepped up. In the midst of the roller coaster events of his life, and even in the loneliness of a prison cell, Joseph maintained his integrity and his faith. Such faith, maintained even in the darkest of times, is impossible to ignore, even by those who don’t believe. Our faith, when exercised with integrity, will not escape the notice of the world we live and work in. Perhaps you can identify with Joseph. Perhaps you spend several days a week in a work environment that is hostile to your faith. Perhaps your boss is a difficult tyrant. Perhaps you feel like a prisoner to failing health or finances. You can choose to react with a faith like Joseph’s or you can react in anger and frustration. Either way, the world will be watching. Henry Blackaby reminds us that Christians “…need to walk in peace, so no matter what happens they will be able to bear witness to a watching world.” We need to remember that what they see in us—the way we work and the way we handle the highs and lows of our life—will go far in drawing them toward God or turning them away. “But while Joseph was there in prison, the Lord was with him…” (Genesis 39:20,21)

“If there was ever a man who had the right to be bitter toward God and man, it was Joseph.

Perhaps you spend several days a week i n a w o r k environment that is hostile to your faith. Perhaps your boss is a difficult tyrant. Perhaps you feel like a prisoner to fai l ing health or finances.

Stewart and Patty's ministry emphasizes discipleship of the men and women in church, as well as various outreach activities such as English classes. Please continue to pray for the Humphreys. They are part of the EFCA Reach Global Missions program.
