FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR

September will arrive shortly, and our schools will be back in session including the children of Mooseheart. Accordingly, our officers will be wearing regalia during general membership meetings. Also, we have many significant changes that will help our lodge succeed with a balanced budget for the rest of the year. Many of you have seen the small changes in pricing for our bar foods. These small changes will allow us to continue to serve fresh wholesome foods and actually put some money back into our general fund. We want to thank all our members for understanding these types of small changes.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our August crab feed due to a very serious illness with your Administrator. I am scheduled for a difficult surgery early in September to resolve this illness and hope to return to full duty shortly thereafter.

Our kitchen staff continues to provide some delicious meals at very reasonable prices. In the absence of the crab feed, Sheila came up with a "captains plate" that served our members well.

On September 20-23 Oregon Moose Association's Annual Convention will be held at the Airport Shilo in Portland. Contact our lodge office for details if anyone plans on attending.

And, a great big "thank you" to the Texas Hold’Em poker players who raised over $200 and donated that money to the lodge so that we could purchase a new poker table.

A thank you to our volunteers who serve their lodge proudly.

Message

FROM THE SENIOR REGENT

Warmest Greetings from WOTM! As I collect my thoughts for the September Snorter, I find myself grasping for the right words to fully

express my gratitude for the number of volunteers who stepped up in August for the WOTM activities. We had such a fun and exciting month because of the efforts of so many.

My heart is filled with thanks for the warm fellowship and closeness we all shared when we took on huge projects together and were so successful. From the initial planning stages, coordinating, setting up, and working through activities; so many of us came together last month for our WOTM HoeDown!, Japanese Internment Exhibit and related activities, Tuesday Dinners, Committee planning meetings and relaxing through rock painting. Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you who participated, helped out and worked behind the scenes for such a fun filled month!

Are we done? Heck no! The fun is just beginning…. Ahhhh! The kids are jumping back into school this month and the weather is going to get a bit cooler

as we enjoy the final days of summer. Time to start thinking about those less fortunate in our community. Our WOTM Community Service Committee is asking for donations to give to the homeless residing around Waldport area. Warm clothing, toiletries, blankets, and a whole host of other items are posted on Facebook for us to collect and give to those in need. Gently used clean clothing items are welcomed. Please give generously. The collection box is in the WOTM office and will be out at every meeting this fall/winter.

And, pull out your calendar, we have some wonderful community-based events coming up… Tuesday, September 4, 2018 POT LUCK September Birthday Dinner Celebration 5-7 PM Wednesday,

September 5, 2018 COME ON DOWN TO THE WOTM Meeting 6 PM at the Lodge and get your Secret Sister. I know, I know, many of you have participated in this for many years-but we still need your participation. This is an EXCELLENT way to make our newest members feel welcomed and a SUPER way to get to know a new friend!

Wednesday, September 12 and 26, 2018 1 PM Rock Painting with Nita and Liz-Got no talent? No problem.. just come down and keep us company! Donations are being collected from finished rocks! Fun, relaxing, and raising funds too. What could be better?

BUNCO! BUNCO! BUNCO! I just love BUNCO! (Can you tell?) Sports and Activities is starting up BUNCO! on Sunday, September 16, 2018 3 PM. We are so fortunate to have the best BUNCO! coordinator on the Oregon Coast- Carrie Davis. She makes it a party atmosphere. Fun for all ages! Yes, bring your kids, your neighbors, your Great Aunt Sally and join us! (Donation $5)

Note: Your officers Patti, Ice and I will be away the weekend of September 21-23 for the OMA Convention/WOTM Conference in Portland. We are pretty excited to be representing you-hoping to bring back some nuggets of information to make Chapter 1124 even better!

Saturday, September 29, 2018 10 am-2 pm Our beloved Cub Scout Pack and the WOTM will be washing cars on for only $5 donation per car. The Community Service Committee has pre-event tickets available. (Hot dogs and chips will be available during the car wash).

Saturday, October 13, 2018 10 am-2 pm CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER event. Each Committee will have a craft or service table. Donations for a table $20 with a $5 refund when area is left clean. Thank you to Deb Rheault for coordinating this activity for MH/MH committee. Sign up for table ideas will start at the 9/5/2018 WOTM Meeting 6 pm.

Sincerely grateful for all of you!

Fraternally yours, TiAnne “Ti” Rios Senior Regent 541-270-5752
