page 1 Principals Corner : Dear Julington Creek Families, We have had an amazing and exciting two weeks of school. Students have really settled in and are enjoying JCE traditions such as Bingo Night and Good Jaguar Assemblies. September brings many events. PTO has planned family activities for Patriots Day (Sept 11 th 6:30pm). Book Fair will also be open that night for families to purchase books. Curriculum nights continue, with second grade hosting theirs September 7 th at 6pm. JCE wants to assist with the Hurricane Harvey efforts. This is how students can participate: Sept 8 th Hat Day!! $1 donation. Families can always donate more. Cash or checks made out to “American Red Cross”. Keep these families in your thoughts. We will repeat these efforts around holiday time. Texas residents have a long road ahead of them. We will help them rebuild and heal! It is our goal for all families to have the opportunity to conference with their teacher at least once a year. This one-on- one time allows for discussion focused around goals and progress. Teachers will be reaching out very soon and setting up conference times within the first nine weeks of school. Don’t forget to sign up for HAC (Home Access Center). Report Cards for 3 rd -5 th grade will be available through HAC. This is a great tool to monitor weekly grades and attendance. Ask our front office how you can sign up. Thank you for your patience during our dismissal car line. We have adjusted a few things on our end which has resulted in the car line running more efficiently (decreased by 10 minutes). Woohoo!! As a reminder, you may drop off your students as early as 7:50am. Students will be marked tardy if they arrive at 8:30am or after. Our patio is open and ready for you. All families are welcome to join their student during lunch in our outside covered patio. Check in with Deb in the front office and request a “Patio Pass” and enjoy some quiet time with your student. Birthday celebrations are very important to our students and their friends. We ask that you keep it simple and communicate with the teacher so they may recommend an appropriate time of day for a celebration. Simple healthy treats are recommended during lunch time. Cakes and home baked goods are not appropriate due to allergy concerns and clean up time. We truly appreciate your assistance. We have many new families to JCE for whom WOW Wednesdays may be a new concept. Once every seven weeks, students spend an entire day focused on related arts activities. We call this WOW Wednesday! Students rotate through Music, Art, PE, Media and Technology. While students are engaged in enriching physical and artistic activities, teacher teams spend the day looking at data, planning, and taking part in professional learning. Thank you for your continued support! LOVE JCE!! General Information

Hello from the Jaguar Cafe

If you qualified for free and reduced lunch last year you may need to reap-

ply. You could be in a pending mode awaiting this years new information.

If you go to full pay you will be responsible for any charges until you can

get reapproved for this school year. This has to be done every school year

unless you have been told otherwise.

Please sign up for Paypams.com and take advantage of what it can offer

you. It is a wonderful way to monitor your student’s account, make credit card payment (minimal charge) and receive account balance reminders.

JCE PTO had the privilege of hosting our time-honored Back-to-School BINGO in a packed Cafetori-um on August 25

th. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Chairperson, Sue Williams, for all

her dedication and hard work. It takes a small village to run an event such as BINGO. We are grate-ful to all those who signed up to volunteer.

This is Sue’s final year of organizing our Back-to-School BINGO. Our PTO is looking for someone who would be willing to take on the role for the 2018-2019 school year. You will have help and be provided notes on past BINGO Nights. There are other roles available if you have any desire to be

more involved. If this interests you, please contact Tee’ha Carroll at [email protected].

The PTO is still accepting Membership forms. The cost is $25 per family and includes a key fob for discounts to other local businesses; car magnet; and coupons. The money you spend to join goes

back to providing support and activities at Julington Creek Elementary.

NEW this year… JCE PTO is launching Spirit Sticks. The Spirit Sticks are being used as an incen-tive for the school to reward student achievements and being sold for students to collect. The details are being sent home on a “Spirit Sticks” flier and will be available via Peach Jar and other social me-

dia. All proceeds from the sales of Spirit Sticks goes back to support the school’s incentive pro-grams. If you have any questions regarding Spirit Sticks contact Cindy Magloff at cmag-

[email protected].

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, concerns, and/or more interest in getting involved at JCE. The email is [email protected]. Also, “LIKE US” and “FOLLOW US” on Facebook at

https://www.facebook.com/JulingtonCreekElementaryPto/

Join us for our first Meeting and Parent Night at the Book Fair on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:30-8:00pm. In honor of Patriots ’ Day, we will make cards for soldiers and kids can enjoy ice-

cream. Student volunteers are needed to help (hours available) so please contact [email protected].

Thanks for helping to make JCE a great place to send our kids!
