Two of the most important Islamic holidays of the year are Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. While the former marks the end of the long fasting month of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Adha marks the end of Hajj, the sacred pilgrimage to the holy city Makkah. It's customary for every able Muslim (as prescribed in the Five Pillars of Islam) to go on a Hajj at least once during his lifetime. Also popularly known as the Festival of Sacrifice, this Muslim holiday Eid-ul-Adha commemorates Prophet Abraham's unselfish act of sacrificing his own son Ishmael to the One God, Allah.

Sunan to be followed on the day of Eid al-Adha

1 – Doing ghusl before going out to the prayer.

A man once asked ‘Alî – Allâh be pleased with him – about taking a full bath (ghusl). He replied, “Wash every day if you want.” The man said, “No, what I mean is the ghusl.” ‘Ali replied, “Al-Jumu’ah (Friday), the Day of ‘Arafah, the Day of Al-Nahr (sacrificial slaughter, ‘Eid al-Adhâ) and the Day of Al-Fitr (the ‘Eid following Ramadân).”

2 - Eating after the prayer of Eid Al Adha

Buraidah (radhi allahu anhu) reported: "The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) would not go out on the day of breaking the fast (Eid al-Fitr) until he had eaten and on the day of sacrifice (Eid al Adha) he would not eat until he had returned [from Salât]"

3 - Takbeer on the day of Eid Al Adha should be loud and should start from the day of Arafah until the last day of Eid i.e the 13th of Dhul Hijjah

AllAAhu AkbAr, AllAAhu AkbAr, lAA ilAAhA ill-AllAAh,

wA AllAAhu AkbAr, AllAAh AkbAr, wA lillAAh il-hAmD

(Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is most Great, there is no god but Allaah,

Allaah is Most great, Allaah is most great, and to Allaah be praise).

It was also narrated elsewhere by Ibn Abi Shaybah with the same isnaad, but with the phrase “Allaahu

akbar” repeated three times.

Page 5: September 2015

4 – Offering congratulations

It was narrated that Jubayr ibn Nufayr said: When the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) met one another on the day of Eid, they would say to one another,

TAqAbbAlA AllAAh minnA wA minkum

(May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you.)”

Ibn Hajar said, its isnaad is hasan. Al-Fath, 2/446.

5 – Adorning oneself on the occasion of Eid

It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had a cloak which he would wear on the two Eids and on Fridays. Saheeh Ibn Khuzaymah, 1756,

Al-Bayhaqi narrated with a saheeh isnaad that Ibn ‘Umar used to wear his best clothes on Eid.’

With regard to women, they should attend the Eid prayer even if they are not praying. They should avoid adorning and beautifying themselves when they go out for Eid, such as perfuming themselves and wearing make-up because they are only going out for the purpose of worship.

kObAnE, Syria - After Islamic State fighters vacated this strategic border town following one of the longest battles in the Syrian war, it took four months for the four Beko sisters and their families to feel it was safe to return from refuge in Turkey. Now the young women, two of them cradling four-month-old babies, stand on the porch of their two-story home surveying a scene of colossal destruction.

The top floor of the block of flats opposite their house is full of shell holes and down the street several buildings are little more than pancakes of concrete, their roofs crushed by US missiles and bombs. The Islamic State group (IS), or Daesh as everyone here calls it, using the acronym for its name in Arabic, seized parts of the town in September 2014.

Kobane is in the Kurdish-majority area of northern Syria and it took determined resistance by armed units of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) as well as help from allies in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq to block IS from capturing the whole town.

After a month of local resistance, airstrikes were launched by the US-led coalition. At times, US planes dropped 500lb and 2,000lb bombs on any building thought to be housing IS fighters. For several weeks last winter, TV crews from around the world stood on the Turkish side of the border filming huge plumes of smoke and dust rising above Kobane. The town became a household name.

So far over 4 million syrians have been displaced during 2011-2015; Turkey - 1.7million Lebanon – 1.2 million Jordan – 650,000 Saudi Arabia – 500,000 Europe – 220,000 Egypt - 140,000

1. Forging documents against the companions

They forged a document a seal of Uthman (R.A) to give it the appearance of Authenticity, to then conspire to up rise and assassinate him.

2. Addressing the rulers with Jewish, Christian or bad names.

This was done to the noble companions Uthman (R.A) and Ali (R.A).

3. Stealing property and wealth

These terrorists declared the companion Uthman (R.A) an apostate and stole all of his possessions.

4. Spilling Blood and cutting off routes to travel

These terrorists opposed Ali (R.A), shed blood, murdered women and even an unborn child.

5. Divided in their pursuit of overall leadership

We see today that they are divided between ISIS, Al-Nusrah and AL-Qaeda.

6. Recruitment and encouraging emigration from Muslim Lands

They encourage splitting from the main body of Muslims, recruiting the youth encouraging them to leave their mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and all other relatives.

7. Waging Jihad with Muslims and encouraging their slaughter

They consider the Muslims to have strayed, and if they commit major sins they have then left the fold of Islam and their blood is Halal and can be killed.

8. Judging Muslims with disbelief on account of matters which are not disbelief.

They accused the companion Ali (R.A) to be a polytheist and said “O Ali, you have ascribed partners to Allah in His religion, judgement belongs only to Allah.”

9. Violating the rights of those under care and protection of the lands.

They violate the rights on non-Muslims who are under guarantee and protection from Muslims.

10. Comprised of gangs, hooligans, ruffians, dregs of society young and foolish in age.

The ones who mobilized against the Companion Uthman (R.A) were young and foolish. The Messenger described them as “Young of age, Foolish-minded.”

Hate crimes against Muslims

Hate crimes against Muslims in London have risen by nearly three quarters over the past year, according to police figures released on Monday.

The Metropolitan Police recorded 816 Islamophobic crimes in the UK capital for the 12 months until the end of July – the previous year there were 478 documented attacks.

The highest rise was in the south-west borough of Merton, where attacks rose from eight to 29 year on year – an increase of 263 percent.

Islamophobic attacks have escalated in the past few years, with the Metropolitan Police documenting 318

attacks in 2011. The areas with the highest number of attacks are in Merton, Islington, Southwark and Westminster.A spokesperson for Islamophobia monitor Tell Mama, Fiyaz Mughal, told the BBC that around 60 percent of victims in the past year have been women wearing a headscarf or a face veil.

“We realised quite early on that women who wear niqab, the face veil, suffered more aggressive incidents – there was something about the face veil that in a way brought out the worst in the perpetrator,” he said.

On the BallIt’s about time

Chelsea star Diego Costa charged with violent conduct by the FA for clash with Arsenal’s laurent koscielny

The Spaniard has been retrospectively sanctioned after lashing out at Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny during his side’s 2-0 win on Saturday.

The incident was missed by referee Mike Dean, leaving the Gunners furious, and their sense of injustice deepened when Gabriel Paulista was sent off for kicking out at Costa.

Paulista reacted furiously to the decision and he has also been charged by the FA for his behaviour following his dismissal, which could see his three-match ban extended.

Both clubs, meanwhile, have been charged with failing to control their players, whilst Santi Cazorla has been warned for his behaviour after his sending off, which rounded off a miserable day for Arsenal.

The FA said in a statement: “Diego Costa has been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

“The Chelsea forward was involved in an incident with Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny in the 43rd minute of the game. He has until 6pm tomorrow (Tuesday) to reply.

“Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time by the match officials are referred to a panel of three former elite referees.

“Each referee panel member will review the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they consider it a sending-off offence. For retrospective action to be taken, and an FA charge to follow, the decision by the panel must be unanimous.

“Arsenal defender Gabriel has been charged with improper conduct for his behaviour following his dismissal, whilst team-mate Santi Cazorla has been warned for his behaviour following his sending off.

“Finally, both clubs have been charged for failing to control their players under FA Rule E20. Both clubs and Gabriel have until 6pm on Thursday (24 September) to reply

Over the past year I have been participating in a range of opportunities delivered by ACF and I cannot express how grateful I am for being offered the chance to partake in them. From starting off as quite a timid person, who was unable to express her views passionately, they have given me the confidence to voice what I strongly believe in on a large platform beginning with their Young Leaders Programme. The activities I participated in the programme had put me forward in the right path to becoming a young leader, where the skillset I had gained helped me in the recent Mind Your Own Business Programme, where our business project was in fact a success. Other than that, I was able to go to the US Embassy twice to receive interesting talks from senior leaders, attend exciting events and go to the new Girls’ Youth Club on Tuesdays. All of these unforgettable experiences can be credited towards ACF and I cannot begin to thank them enough. I’ve changed into an assertive, more determined and focused person through joining their network and cannot wait for the future opportunities they have in store.

How Much Ya Bench?

You see, if you want to add pounds of lean muscle you need a slight shift in mindset…and it starts with checking the ego at the door of the gym. Leave the chest thumping and bravado for the guy that grunts like Porky Pig with a sinus infection on every rep just to draw attention to the 400lbs he’s cheating up on every rep (exhibit A: the guy in the picture above)!

Instead what I want you to do is make sure that no matter what exercise you’re doing or what primary muscle group you’re training that you move EVERY REP of EVERY EXERCISE by C-O-N-T-R-A-C-T-I-N-G the muscle responsible for the movement or exercise. So, if you’re doing lat pulldowns or pullups then let the lats do their job! Pull down with the elbows, use a false grip so you eliminate the contribution of the forearms and try NOT to use your arms and you’ll consciously see how much more effectively you can engage the lats.

The exercise may feel like a completely different exercise done this way, and you might even find that you can’t do nearly as many reps as you’re used to or lift as much weight. And guess what? It’s perfectly fine, because when you actually contract the muscle group that’s supposed to be the primary contributor to a movement you get much much more of a training effect out of it.
