Stephanie Schroeder shares a great resource, The Safety Doctor:

Safety teams (and committees of all types) can serve a critical role in moving programs forward. Imagine if your group could identify and focus on top priority issues, develop and deploy a solution, and deliver results quickly... all without conflict. This month's newsletter is a roadmap map to committee success.

True Story: a new Plant Manager of a power generation plant asked the chairperson of the safety committee for their most frequent meeting minutes and minutes from 12 months prior. The Plant Manager realized the committee was discussing the SAME problems and getting nowhere fast. I was brought in to improve the processes and help deliver results faster. After two days, their meetings were more focused, everyone knew their roles, there was more harmony and they delivered solutions faster. As a bonus after 2 days, the ‘loudest intimidator’ in the group apologized to other team members for his poor behavior. Trust soared.

The content of this month’s “Safety News You Can Use” is critical information to the success of members in ALL types of meetings, both in and outside work. Forward this information-packed newsletter of tips and tools to others. Topic headings include:

from 5/22/14 thru 6/19/14 as OG&E was tasked with restoring power to 217,597

customers which required replacing 1347 power poles and 481transformers. This was

accomplished using 1200 employees from several states. Daily Safety Briefings were

held with employees and PPE was moved to the field where needed. Amazingly, only 4

Recordable Accidents occurred during this time. This has to be a direct result of the

pro-active safety measures implemented by both OSHA and OG & E.

Thank you very much David for sharing your experiences with our group!
