There are so many great things happening in UBC this coming month! I’m excited that fall is upon us! My prayer is that over the next several weeks we will continue to catch the vision God has for our church. Our church’s mission is “to reach people with the message of Jesus Christ and to nurture new and maturing Christians as they create and live a Christ-like lifestyle.” The sermon series for the fall is called “On Mission,” and we will consider each week ways we can Reach, Nurture, Create, and Live for Christ. The mission of the church should always be in line with the mission of God. The fancy theological term for this is missio Die. We should always find the missio Die in the world, and align our lives and our church’s ministry with what God is already doing. Consider these quotes from some Christian leaders: “God loves to pour out His Spirit with power on those who will dare to align radically their purposes with His.” ― Steve Childers “The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become.” ― Henry Martyn “The harvest is large, but there are few workers to gather it in. Pray to the owner of the harvest that he will send out workers to gather in his harvest.” – Jesus The harvest happens whether we participate or not. God’s power and blessing come to those willing to participate in God’s mission to the world. Let’s get excited about being “On Mission” together with God this fall! There are so many great things happening in UBC this coming month!I’m excited that fall is upon us! My prayer is that over the next severalweeks we will continue to catch the vision God has for our church.

Our church’s mission is “to reach people with the message of JesusChrist and to nurture new and maturing Christians as they create and live a Christ-like lifestyle.” The sermon series for thefall is called “On Mission,” and we will consider each week ways we can Reach, Nurture, Create, and Live for Christ.

The mission of the church should always be in line with the mission of God. The fancy theological term for this is missioDie. We should always find the missio Die in the world, and align our lives and our church’s ministry with what God isalready doing. Consider these quotes from some Christian leaders:

“God loves to pour out His Spirit with power on thosewho will dare to align radically their purposes withHis.” ― Steve Childers

“The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearerwe get to Him, the more intensely missionary webecome.” ― Henry Martyn

“The harvest is large, but there are few workers to gatherit in. Pray to the owner of the harvest that he will sendout workers to gather in his harvest.” – Jesus

The harvest happens whether we participate or not.

God’s power and blessing come to those willing to

participate in God’s mission to the world. Let’s get

excited about being “On Mission” together with God this

fall!

Have you ever wanted to go to Greece? Now is your opportunity, at least vicariously! The Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Studygroup begins a nine week Beth Moore study, Children of the Day, of 1 & 2 Thessalonians onSeptember 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Join us as we discover the people, culture and faith of Thessaloniki in 51 A.D. and consider the issues confronting the churchthere. It was a dark time, for many Christians were being persecuted for their faith and theybegan to believe that the return of Jesus Christ was near. Sound familiar? How are we tolive in such an ominous world today? The women of that city played a vital role in the churchand community, and how we function in our homes and in our community as Christians canbe a powerful force when we live as Paul says, as “children of the Light and children of theday.” Call Becky at 286-9108 for info and to sign up so we can order enough books. Can’twait to see you there!
