-Arrival starts at 8:15 am the day begins at 8:30 sharp. -Dismissal is 3:30 pm. Please do not take child before he/she give me a high-five and I have made eye-contact with you.
--If absent, notes to Mr. Santiago at the front desk. (Unexcused absences will keep your child off any award lists!)
--Tardies – attendance is entered by 8:40. (Tardies do count against Perfect Attendance!)
-Every child starts on green-If your child ends the day on yellow or red- a note goes home. -Students may go back to green -Red, yellow, and green slips may be sent home by other teachers
Red Folder: Daily Homework, Graded Daily Homework, Tests, Communication/notesBook Buddy Bag: G.R. book, any homework related to G.R., interest book
Please check & empty folders daily.
To reinforce skills/strategies, develop study skills, communication method for
parents. Monday-Thursday: •Math•Guided Reading- book & responseWeekend/Long Term/OptionalOptional Math, Fundations & Writing and Occasional Social Studies/Science Project
-Small groups-Talk to your child about being focused, doing your best, cooperation, etc. -Grades: Biweekly rubric- G.R. OR Literacy Center
-Phonics/spelling program. Focus is to learn word patterns- not memorize. -Packet emailed at start of unit. Due by date on packet (2-3 weeks). --Double Dose for 80% or less on Tests-DO memorize Trick Words! Quiz on date specified for list.
-Everyday Math – spiral curriculum, conceptual knowledge - not just knowing the answer. -Family letters are a great source of Info.-HomeLink- homework page-Unit enrichment packet for a challenge on Web page-Grades- Journal, Math Msg., Unit Test, Open Response
-Workshop model: 10 min. mini-lesson, 30 min. writing, & weekly share time. -About ideas- not the handwriting or spelling -Key concepts across all units- using interesting details, robust vocab, sequence (B, M, E). -Unit Letter & Rubric (along with optional homework) gives insight into the unit & grading scale.
-Science & Social Studies alternate each quarter-Watch the newsletter for key ideas taught that week-Occasional homework for thematic unit- watch newsletter & family letters.
