We are very proud of the range of activities and opportunities we provide for our students at our school. From productions to sporting events and Pet Days, there are some fantastic experiences that make our school experience special. We thought we would share a few of the things that are running alongside and through our classroom teaching and learning programmes.

I Speak for the Trees! - Are you ready to see the best of the arts from all ages at Myross Bush School next week? Our school production is only 1 week away and the students are hard at work with costumes, dance, singing and putting the finishing touches on their acting parts.

Thanks to all those parents who are also working hard behind the scenes on costumes and props - and listening to the same lines being practised over and over again. We really appreciate your hard work.

Productions are a great way to share the talents and abilities of all our students in such a variety of ways. This year you will see a wide range of ages being involved, too, from those in major speaking parts to taking control of technical roles behind the sound and lighting desks. Its shaping up to be a fantastic team effort.

Writing Explorers - Our talented bunch of writers from the Year 5 and 6 year group have been meeting this term to create a storytelling movie. They have created a story called, 'The Little Brown Kiwi' which follows the storyline of Little Red Riding Hood but has a NZ theme with a twist. They had their world first Premier screening today in the Library and it will posted on our website very soon.

Our Explorer's Programme is a part of our school's Gifted And Talented Education programme where we seek to extend and engage students in various ways. We are

looking to run explorers groups in a wide variety of curriculum areas in the coming terms.

Garden Club - Kauri and Miro have continued our popular Garden club this term as part of their inquiry into the environment and sustainability. This has been running for many years and we have a trophy at the End of Year Assembly for the most enthusiastic and committed gardener.

These are just a few of the things that we do here. For the rest of the year we're also looking forward to next term's Pet Day, the Year 6 Camp and our end of term fun days. We really value your support with the children's extra curricula activities, all of which add to the shaping of well rounded students.

Week 10 Term 3MANUKA are working hard at remembering our Truffula Tree dance for production. Just to confirm our costumes: please wear dark (ie; black, navy) skinny clothes (ie; polyprops, skivvies, leggings etc) that are long sleeved and full length legs. Please send these along in a named bag anytime from now. We have a dress rehearsal next Tuesday so before then please. I will send these home on Tuesday night so they can come dressed in these to the Civic on production night. I am providing wigs and tree rings which will be added once they arrive. Just a reminder to please name your lunch containers as there are a few floating around the cloak bay. Certificates: Corban for great maths – knowing the teen facts and Charlotte fantastic reading progress.

KOWHAI In Kowhai we are writing to Q-bear to convince him of all the reasons why we need the trees. We are all excited about our letter writing - look out for it in our publishing books this Friday! We are busy practising our dance for production. We all helped create our dance by thinking about how bears look and move, and the happy, playful personalities Ba-Ba-loots have. We used the elements of dance (ask your child!) to create our moves. It takes a lot of practice to know when and where to be on the stage, and which dance move comes next! A lot of thinking went into our costumes too. A BIG thank you to all the parents who came in and helped out today, it is much appreciated!

Certificates: Abigail Hunter, Ricky Smith

RIMU Room Rimu have had fun practising for the school production. A big thank you to all the people who have loaned us umbrellas for our dance. If you look on the class blog you will see a link to a Facts to Five game that is timed. TOTARAThank you for all the kindness that this wonderful community has shown my family with the passing of my Grandmother, once again I am truly humbled to be a part of this community. For the production we can wear any colour t-shirt or long sleeved top and any close fitting pants and bare feet. We have made our costumes to wear over the top. We are thinking about fractions in class for maths. Kind regards and many thanks, Della Carr.

Certificates: Nic Davidson for great thoughts, feelings and capitals in the correct place in his 5 sentence writing.Ciara Hegan for being a great team member while working in a group.

KAURI • Last week some members of the Garden Club went to Nicols Garden Shop to ask questions and purchase some plants for the tunnel house and the outside garden area. We learned a lot about fertilising, planting and caring for the plants. Miss Duncan• Claire, the lady at Nicols was friendly, she told us lots about which plants to pick and would be ready early, so we can eat and sell them. Ben• Our costumes are being done now and our dance is done, we just have to keep rehearsing it and memorising what we need to do. Thomas

MATAI Cassie - I’m excited about the production next week! I’m the Last Truffala Tree and I already know my lines off by heart. I’ve been practising heaps for my solo with the choir. I’m really excited but quite nervous!

Kahn - I’m looking forward to the production. I’m one of the Robots that are cutting down the trees. We’re doing quite an isolated dance and we’re being a little bit like Lemmings - they’re animals that follow each other. So if one runs off a cliff the others would follow. We’re not quite finished our costumes but we’re getting there.
