St. Gabriel Elementary School Second Graders at St. Gabriel Elementary School learned the parable of the Sower and the Seeds. Students got to make a face on a cup and plant grass seeds inside. When the grass grows, it will look like hair and they can practice cutting it. Students are reminded to be the “good soil” just like in the parable.

St Margaret Mary Elementary School, Neenah On the first day of school the third grade students learned that the American flag is a symbol of heritage, honor and national pride. The third grades were educated in how to raise, lower and fold the American flag. The students then had the opportunity to go outside and practice how they will be raising, lowering, and folding the flag for our school this year. The students will be learning more about the American flag and the important symbols that represent our beautiful country.

St. Mary Elementary School, Menasha The students in the Aquinas Program at St. Mary Elementary School had a great start to the school year! They participated in a variety of getting to know you activities as well as helping with ideas for the classroom. They came up with a mascot and a motto for the class. Our mascot is St. Thomas Aquinas, and our motto is “If you never try, you won’t succeed.” The students are super excited for the school year and can’t wait for the fun projects they get to participate in!

St. Mary Catholic Middle School Students at St. Mary Catholic Middle School walked into their classrooms this year to find hundreds of new and engaging novels from all genres in their language arts classrooms. Teachers are launching reading workshops in their classrooms designed to provide time and guidance in reading and developing an independent reading life.

St. Mary Catholic High School On Saturday, August 25, a group of volunteers helped move mulch in Jane’s Woods to improve the trails. Jane’s Woods is a learning environment used by our students that is located behind the middle school. This year, it will also be used as part of our Connect 5 Run/Walk on September 22, where a spiritual walk through Jane’s Woods will be offered.

School News & Religious Education

The Week Ahead: September 16---Religious Education classes for Grades 1-10 at 6:15pm 19---Religious Education classes for Grades 1-10 at 6:15pm Looking Ahead: September 23 & 26---Religious Education classes as scheduled September 23---Confirmation Session at 10:45am (after the 9:30am Mass) in Friendship Hall. Please bring Sacramental Record Form and the Confirmation Sponsor form to class.

Discipleship Hint for the Week Do not let faith be like a puzzle piece in your life that can be tosses aside and left alone. Faith should be interwo-ven into your life that if you tried to remove it the whole fabric of your life would be unraveled. Keep growing, learning, and sharing your faith with your family, friends, and co-workers. Share with those in your life what you value in life and why. Make faith count and LIVE IT. Remember the words from the prophet Isaiah: BE STRONG! in faith and FEAR NOT! To live it to its fullest.
