ScheduleMonday the 12th is a travel day with check-in and opening ceremonies on Monday evening. Classes will be held Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to about 5:00 pm.LodgingThe host hotel will be the Best Western Cotton Tree Inn in Provo, UT. A group rate has been negotiated for the event which includes free internet in the rooms and breakfast at the hotel. More information will be provided in your confirmation letter you will receive after registering.EquipmentYou will be responsible for providing all personal equipment including weapons and ammunition. Ammunition round counts and other equipment requirements for each class will be included in your confirmation packet.DeadlinesLETC will be limited to the first 180 PAID applicants. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment must be arranged 30 days before the first day of class to avoid losing your slot.

------------2011 Courses------------High Performance HandgunBank Miller - Action Target AcademyFor better or for worse, the handgun remains the primary firearm for law enforcement work. This intensive program will help you develop techniques and tactics that are tactically efficient and effective for the handgun under stressful situations. Based on economy of motion, the unique techniques and tactics presented will elevate your operational efficiency far beyond that of basic skill development. You will be able to respond to hazardous situations rapidly and safely with determination and confidence. This will very likely be the most intense and action-packed firearms training class you will ever take.

He spent 13 years as the Director of Training for the Sigarms Academy, and is the currently the Senior Firearms Instructor for the Action Target Academy.

Advanced Practical HandgunTodd Haller- Safariland Shooting School Based on the concept of “get them out of their comfort zone”, this course will provide you with powerful new training tools that can be used on even the most primitive ranges. Learn how to set up and conduct challenging tactical scenarios that expose critical weaknesses in equipment and technique. This course will demonstrate how the many challenges of modern firearms training can be met, even by departments with extremely tight budgets. You will experience first hand how simple portable targets can be used by any department on any range to elevate practical firearms training to dramatic new levels.

Instructor Bio: Todd Haller is an officer with the Snowmass Village PD with 14 years on the job. He has eight years of experience as a POST certified firearms instructor, a USPSA/IDPA competitor, and is a senior instructor with the Safariland Shooting School

Patrol Rifle/CarbineKyle Schmidt - Safariland Shooting SchoolThis course will stress the ‘real world’ applications, techniques and limitations of the AR platform rifle in today’s LE world. This course will cover often overlooked basics such as proper preparation of your patrol rifle, as well as real world operation of the rifle’s mechanism. This course will also enlighten you as to the possibilities of this platform, while considering the limitations and the mindset that ‘a rifle cures all’. This course will stress real time skill sets that you can transfer to your department.

Instructor Bio: Kyle Schmidt is an officer with the Tempe, AZ Police department with seven years of SWAT experience. He is a certified patrol rifle instructor and was instrumental in developing Tempe Police Department's extensive PR course and policy. Kyle is a full time agency firearms training officer, Colt certified AR-15 armorer, and a USPSA Master class shooter and 3-gun competitor.

Rapid Deployment Patrol Rifle OperatorJohn Krupa - Team SpartanThis intense firearms training course focuses on instructor development techniques for tactical speed shooting, aggressive gun-handling skills and dynamic action during tactical deployment with the rifle. Students will develop reflexive gun-handling skills with the rifle that will enable them to quickly and efficiently engage threats while performing multiple complex tasks. Pre-requisite: This is an advanced rifle skills building course. Students must be a certified rifle instructor or certified rifle operator to attend this course.Student Requirements: Note pad and pen, eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap, duty belt with holster and magazine carriers, duty pistol with at least 2 magazines, patrol rifle with at least 3 magazines, tactical sling, 500 rounds of rifle ammunition and 50 rounds of handgun ammunition.

Instructor Bio: John is a police officer with the Orland Hills Police Dept. and has over 20 years of experience in Law Enforcement. He has previously served as a beat officer, rapid response officer, FTO and firearms instructor with Chicago PD. He is a certified Master Firearms Instructor from PTI and graduate firearms instructor from the Secret Service Academy, FBI, DEA and FLETC. Emergency Medical Response for Firearms InstructorsBrian Bardsley, Jr. - Team SpartanThis course focuses on providing firearms instructors with the skills and knowledge to develop emergency medical action plans and a practical introduction to basic management of life threatening trauma injuries. Lectures focus on gunshot wound care, pre-incident planning, mindset, communication and equipment & transportation considerations. Principles of anatomy & physiology will be covered in addition to assessment and treatment modalities. Skill stations will provide hands-on experience with medical equipment.Student Requirements: Notebook and pen. Attendees will receive a detailed manual with course materials as well as a CD with class power point presentation.Instructor Bio: Brian is a police officer with the Chicago Police Department and has over 10 years of experience in law enforcement. He is a certified paramedic, EMT and TEMS operator. He has extensive experience as a paramedic, and brings a wealth of knowledge forth as a veteran combat medic in the U.S Army treating combat casualties in Iraq. He has made over a dozen guest speaker presentations onCombat Casualty Care at various hospitals and rehabilitation centers as well as ILEETA, ISOA and previous LETC’s.

Shoot, Move, CommunicateDennis Tueller - Glock Training DivisionTactical communication, controlled movement, use of cover, and accurate shooting - These are skills that must be effectively applied by armed personnel to resolve and survive close-range armed confrontations. Students will participate in range activities that will help them learn and apply techniques and tactics for integrating safe gun handling, marksmanship, mobility, and verbalization. Along with movement-oriented shooting exercises involving multiple stationary and moving targets, there is also a strong emphasis on the proper mind-set for combat survival.

Instructor Bio: As a retired 25-year veteran of the Salt Lake City PD, Dennis has trained thousands of men and women from throughout the world including law enforcement officers, police recruits, firearms instructors, federal agents, S.W.A.T. teams, military personnel, and corporate security specialists. Perhaps Dennis is best known for researching and developing ground breaking training protocol, as exemplified in his published seminal article, “How Close is Too Close.” In that text, Dennis identified critical concepts (“proximics”), which influenced a revolution in tactical training doctrine (the “Tueller Principle”).

“Reactive Shooting” on Reactive Steel for Speed and AccuracyBill Rogers-BILL-ROGERS SHOOTING SCHOOLThe program replicates the minimal amount of time a shooter will have to successfully neutralize an adversary. The shooter must react to the target's exposure, and successfully shoot it down in the time the target is available. Like in a real life battle. Rogers has been a world ranked IPSC shooter, a state trap champion, and has over 40 years of shooting competition experience. Rogers has invented many of the holsters and equipment used by police and military world wide.

Success with Remedial ShootersSig Sauer Academy Instructor StaffThis course will show instructors how to maximize their students’ natural attributes through specialized teaching methodology that accelerates the learning process in achieving success. The foundation of this program are techniques that are simple, make sense, and easily reproducible that show immediate results.Nothing is really new, technically speaking, but a great deal is new in the presentation, demonstration and expected results of the course material. Special Event - Shooting Demo and "Dirty Harry" Competition New for 2011 is our format for the Dirty Harry Competition. This year, we will be using Action Target’s very popular Line Of fire range for the event. Competitors will be allowed three runs at the event, with the best time determining your place. You will be allowed to shoot your three runs at any time on Tues, Wed, and until Thurs at 1200 hrs. The event will be open from 0730-1730 Tues and Wed., and from 0730 to 1200 hrs on Thursday. Entry will cost $20.00, and ALL entry money will be donated to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation! The event will be designed by Mike Lehner of Safariland and Action Target, and will be officiated by certified range personnel and safety officers. As in past years, the winner will receive their choice of free tuition for LETC2012, OR a firearm. The prize not chosen first will be given by raffle to those competitors at the Thursday night banquet! In addition, there will be many other prizes awarded to competitors in the event by raffle, so everyone has a great chance to win. Sign up early, space will be limited to the first 100 competitors
