Mark Your Calendar! New Worship Service at Dayspring

Beginning Saturday, October 6, Dayspring will offer a Saturday evening worship service on the first Saturday of every month. This service will be quite different from our Sunday service and is not intended to replace Sunday morning worship ~ perhaps some of you will choose to attend both! The service will be a bit more informal and contemplative, and will include Holy Communion, some music and a meditation.

Faith Traditions - Tomorrow, Sept. 17, the Monday Moms & Dads Group will begin a new study about other faith traditions using a book by Adam Hamilton, Christianity’s Family Tree: What Other Christians Believe and Why. In addition to the topics covered in the book, we will explore Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Islam, Judaism, and Hinduism. Childcare will be offered. Interested? Disciple Bible Study - Disciple I, Introduction to the Old and New

Testaments, will be offered on Wednesday mornings, beginning Oct. 3 from 10:00 - 11:30. This 34-week study will be led by Jane Tews. For more information or to register, contact Carol Coleman at [email protected] or (480) 838-1446.

The Explorer’s Class continues its series on “Whatever Happened to Sin? Adam & Eve: Myth or Reality?” this morning with the story of the first murder, “Cain and Abel.” Next Sunday, the class will examine how the concept of sin changed with the birth of the early church. The class is open to all adults at 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. Coffee is served.

The Adult Contemporary Issues Class will study and discuss “Mythology, Religion and the Judeo-Christian Tradition.” We will explore mythology as “literature of the Spirit, a study of the inner life” and examine the function of Judeo-Christian symbols as keys to our spiritual understanding. Class meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Adult Room.

Singles at Dayspring - Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. Sept. 16 - Applebee’s - SE corner of Elliot and Auto Plex.

United Methodist Women will meet on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7:00 p.m. in Room 112. Glendoris Cheek will lead the program, “We Can Be Instruments of Giving to the World.” You are invited to share and reflect on our use of God’s abundant gifts so that we can be instruments of giving and nourishment in the world.

Dinner Groups - Dayspring Dinner Groups are a great opportunity to get to know other members. Interested in participating? For further information or to register, email [email protected] or call Nancy Creighton Brown at (480) 821-8696.

Family Promise - Dayspring will be hosting Family Promise beginning today, Sept. 16 - 23rd. Volunteers are still needed to help set-up/tear down, cook, spend the night, join the families on a Saturday excursion, wash laundry, and more. UMOM Volunteers - We need volunteers to help with UMOM homeless shelter dinners on the following Sundays: Sept. 16; Oct. 14; Nov. 11 & 18; and December 9, 16 & 23.
