Reporting to the Director of Financial Shared Services Australasia (with an indirect line to the Group Tax Manager
for taxation specific expertise), the Sydney-based Finance Shared Services Australasia team is looking to hire a
Senior/Tax Accountant. The Senior/Tax Accountant is a dual role of equal weight and will manage three direct
reports.

Skills and experience
Professional designation i.e. Chartered Accountant or CPA qualified.
Previous experience in corporate accounting role or professional services firm.
Previous experience in taxation reporting and compliance or taxation services.
A high level of computer literacy.
Very strong excel and analytical skills.
Team player, exhibits flexibility for different tasks and willingness to learn.
Good communication, interpersonal and self-management skills.
Ability to work independently and utilize a level of initiative.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and resolve competing duties as necessary.
Desirable
Relevant educational industry experience, particularly with the tertiary sector or with entities providing services
to international students
User knowledge of Oracle EBusiness Suite R12 and Hyperion Financial Management/Hyperion Planning systems
(or similar).

1. Overview and Objectives of the Position:
The Senior/Tax Accountant is a dual role of equal weight.
The Senior Accountant aspect of the role is responsible for the co-ordination and performance of finance
functions for a range of corporate and holding companies maintained by Navitas Group (principally the
head entity, Navitas Limited), oversight of the Fixed Asset process and Payroll interface accuracy across
all Navitas Australasian entities, and in the short term, oversight to ensure robust processes around the
accuracy and reporting of the net marketing expenditures of the Navitas Group’s University Programs
(UP) offshore marketing function (the “Global Recruitment Team”). A key element of the role is therefore
to liaise with the Group’s Managers to ensure financial information requirements are met and ensure
that financial information is consistently and accurately prepared on a timely basis in accordance with
the Group’s reporting requirements.
The Tax Accountant aspect of the role will operate within the Finance Shared Services Australasia team
with an indirect reporting line to the Group Tax Manager. Responsibilities include managing the
Australian and New Zealand reporting and compliance obligations for all indirect taxes, liaising with
external advisors in respect of Australasian income tax preparation and assisting the Group Tax Manager
on Australian and New Zealand tax initiatives.

3. Key Result Areas:
In consultation with the Director of Finance Shared Services and Group Tax Manager:
i. Ensure all financial information of the corporate and holding companies maintained by the
Navitas Group is maintained and prepared in accordance with good accounting practice and in
compliance with Group accounting policies
ii. Ensure that the financial impact of business decisions on each business unit/cost centre is
identified and recommendations for improvement are generated in consultation with appropriate
managers
iii. Ensure Fixed Assets records are properly maintained across all Australasian entities and in
compliance with Group policy
iv. Ensure Payroll is completely and accurately recorded across all Australasian entities and
variances investigated and validated on a timely basis
v. Provide oversight of accounting support provided to the Group Recruitment Team to ensure
accurate financial information is efficiently prepared/recorded
vi. Support internal users (such as commercial mangers) of corporate and holding company financial
information to understand transactions and the impacts on the financial results being reviewed
vii. Ensure all external financial and taxation consultants are provided with up to date and accurate
information
viii. Manage the preparation, consolidation and submission of all Australian and New Zealand indirect
tax returns (including GST, FBT, Payroll Tax, PAYG, and other AU/NZ obligations)
ix. Liaise with external tax consultants for preparation of Australasian income tax returns
x. Assist the Group Tax Manager with the preparation and review of Australasian Tax Effect
Accounting
xi. Assist the Group Tax Manager with ad hoc tax projects including tax planning and tax risk
management initiatives
xii. Other ad hoc tasks as necessary.
