Senior Sparkle
Join in on the fun as we stuff Easter Eggs with candy for our Annual Easter
Egg Hunt. We will be stuffin’ on Thursday, March
14 from 9:30-11:30am in the lunch room in the
County Government Center. All senior fellowship
members interested in helping are asked to
attend. This will be a fun project to get involved
in!
If you may be interested in joining one of the four
Senior Fellowship groups, this would be a great
opportunity to meet some of the folks already
involved.
Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on
Saturday, March 23 at 11:00am at the County
Park in Maurertown.
AARP DRIVER SAFTEY PROGRAM
You will be up-to-date on all the new traffic laws, learn defensive driving
techniques and rules of the road to safely adjust driving to compensate for
age-related changes in this class. This is an all-day class with a one-hour
lunch break. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch to class. You do not have
to be an AARP member to take this class. Cost of the course will be $12 for
AARP members and $14 for non-members, this is payable to AARP. You
need to complete a SCPR registration form and pay our $5 fee for this class
to be registered.
All materials are provided for this class and there are no tests involved.

Arlington National Cemetery and the Memorials—May 14. Spend the morning visiting Arlington National Cemetery
and the afternoon enjoying the memorials. We will utilize the tram at Arlington National Cemetery, which will make stops
at the Kennedy Grave sites, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony and the
Arlington House. We’ll enjoy a boxed lunch en route to the Memorials. We’ll also visit the National World War II
Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Franklin
D. Roosevelt Memorial. We will stop for a buffet dinner on the way home which will be on your own. We will leave Mt.
Jackson Food Lion at 7:30am and make stops in Woodstock and Strasburg. Lunch is included in the price and you will
pick your sandwich choice when you register. Please bring your own drink for lunch. We will be walking between
memorials. Cost $65. Deadline to register is March 28.

Virginia Hot Glass Festival at Sunspots Studio, Staunton, VA– April 27. If you love all things glass, join us for this annual festival where artists from all over the region come together to celebrate the art of
glassmaking. This festival is entirely indoors. If you finish the show early, you can explore downtown Staunton. Depart
Woodstock Lowe’s at 7:30am returning to Woodstock at approx. 8:30pm. Cost $31/adult; $25/child (10 and under).
Deadline to register is April 19.
Washington Nationals—May 28. Come enjoy America’s favorite pastime as we travel to our nation’s
capital to watch the Washington Nationals play host to the Baltimore Orioles. Departing Woodstock Lowe’s at
4:00pm. Game time is set for 7:00pm and we should return to Woodstock around 11:00pm. Deadline to register
is May 1. $65 per person.
Bingo! Saltwater Farm Vineyard & Foxwoods Casino Trip—June 9-12. So much to see
and do in four days in Connecticut. Join us for a stay at the ever-popular Foxwoods Casino where you can enjoy
on-site accommodations and gaming of all types-- Bingo, Poker, Table Games and more! We’ll also venture to
Saltwater Farm Vineyard for a wine tasting and farm tour. Lots more info on this trip in our Spring brochure!
$100 deposit will hold your reservation and final payments are due April 26. For ages 21 and over. $610/person
(single occupancy; $79/person trip insurance) $455/person (double or triple occupancy; $51/person trip
insurance).
Leaf-Peeping & Lobsters: Maine’s Coast in Autumn—September 15-21. Join us as we
head to Maine’s rocky shore for a fabulous autumn tour of the coastal towns. Stopping at Portland for a visit to the
Portland Head Lighthouse, visiting Kennebunkport, and stopping at Ellsworth for the Great Maine Lumberjack Show.
Scarborough will include a visit to Len Libby’s, and a two-day visit to Bar Harbor includes a visit to Acadia National Park.
Trip includes six nights accommodations, welcome reception, six breakfasts, one lunch and four dinners to include two
lobster dinner choices, along with your deluxe motorcoach transportation, standard taxes, meal gratuities and baggage
handling. $250 deposit will hold your reservation; final payment due July 30, 2013.

LET’S MAKE A BASKET
In this class you will weave a cute basket to keep or give as a gift. So get those fingers moving and come
learn this skill. A different basket will be made in each class. Class time is 9:00am-1:00pm; class will be
held at 944 Moose Road in Woodstock. Fee: $25 per class which includes all materials.
Deadline to register is the Wednesday before class.
“Hit the Bulls Eye” Senior Archery
Here’s a fun way to strengthen your arm muscles and increase flexibility! Join
our staff to learn safety and accuracy as your arrows hit the target. All
equipment is provided. We will meet near the track at Peter Muhlenberg
Middle School in Woodstock. Deadline to register is April 15.

Computers 101 - This class starts with the basics and is a “hands-on” class that will let you
get experience with computers as you learn. Deadline to register is March 14.

Computers 201 - This class will be working with default programs on the Windows XP
operating system, the various saving operations, Microsoft Office basics and an
introduction to the internet. Deadline to register is April 4.

Computers 301 - In this class you will be navigating the World Wide Web safely, understanding search engines and
how to use them, email and EBay. Deadline to register is April 18.

Introduction to Word 2010 - This class will introduce Microsoft Word skills such as document creation, editing and
formatting, graphics and more. Participants must be comfortable with basic computer operation. Deadline to register
is April 3. This class will be held at Stonewall Jackson High School.

Zumba Gold - This is a fitness program specifically designed for the
active older adult, beginner participant and other special populations that may
need modifications for success. Wear non-restrictive comfortable clothing and
supportive sneakers. These are four-week sessions held at Anytime Fitness in
Woodstock. Now offered two days a week!

Gentle Hatha Yoga - Feel your stress melt away through gentle poses designed to be done at a slower pace. A
focus on breath and movement will bring you to a deeper relaxation and gentle stretch. A perfect
class for those new to yoga or who are looking for a low intensity practice. No mat needed this is all
done in a chair and standing. These are four-week sessions.

Healthy Bones - For people with osteopenia/osteoporosis, come learn the Meeks Method of SAFE exercise.
Also great for people that desire to return to exercise and those with back pain
issues. Wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes and bring exercise mat. This is a
six-week session. Deadline to register is March 22.

Water Aerobics - Don’t use cooler weather as an excuse to stop
exercising! Enjoy the warm water as you workout in this water aerobics class!
Exercising in water is much easier on your joints while giving you an excellent
workout. Classes held at Phoenix Fitness & Aquatics in Strasburg. Deadline to
register is March 25.

Mah Jongg Club Mah Jongg Club Mah Jongg Club Mah Jongg Club SCPR’s new Mah Jongg Club meets every Monday in the Board Room of the County Government
Center from 9:00am-12:00pm. Please do not be intimidated; come join in the fun of this game! For new and
experienced players. This is a great way to meet new friends while exercising your brain! Free activity. No
club meeting when building or schools are closed or schools are delayed opening for bad weather. For
ages 21 and over.
