Purpose/Objective  An  experiential  education  course  in  which  students  apply  what  they  learn  in  the  classroom  to  real  world  engagement  through  their  three  week  non-­‐‑profit  SSP  placement.  The  course  promotes  applicable  civic  education  and  citizenship.

Homelessness

St.  Barnabas  Mission •  6006 W Girard Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19151 •  ECS St. Barnabas Mission is an emergency shelter in West

Philadelphia serving homeless female-headed families, but it provides much more than a place to live. During a typical six-month stay, families benefit from counseling, referrals for housing, health and educational support, and the stability to move forward. Facilities at the shelter include a cafeteria serving nutritious meals daily, a library, a computer lab, a safe enclosed playground, an after-school programming and a mother/child program.

organization, providing emergency food and access to services to approximately 900,000 people at risk of hunger and food insecurity in the Delaware Valley and beyond. The mission of Philabundance is to reduce hunger and food insecurity in the Delaware Valley by providing food access to people in partnership with organizations and individuals.

organization that collects, grows, purchases, processes, stores and distributes food to those who serve the hungry of Chester County, Pennsylvania.  We are the central location for local agencies, like food cupboards, that service to individuals in need.

through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive - at home, at school and at play. We supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need.

life-threatening illness, MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) prepares and delivers delicious nourishing meals and counsel, empowering individuals to battle illness and improve their quality of life.

cultural family with a purpose: to achieve proficiency in all areas. Our stable, dedicated staff is committed to providing an instructional program that is standards driven, rigorous, and relevant in a structured, safe environment.

intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism. For over 108 years we have continually served the Delaware Valley. KenCrest is the largest provider of community-based services and supports in the region.

COSACOSA •  4427 Main Street, Philadelphia, PA 19127 •  COSACOSA art at large, Inc. is a non-profit organization

creating new public art specific to the concerns of Philadelphia neighborhoods in direct, long-term collaboration with city residents. COSACOSA reasserts art's original role as a catalyst for community dialogue, creative cooperation, and positive change. Since 1990, COSACOSA projects have brought together thousands of citizens of diverse backgrounds and differing abilities to learn about art, about each other, and about how to work together.

working to protect the rural beauty of the 28,000 acres surrounding Willistown, Pennsylvania.  We're dedicated to permanently protecting our countryside from development and inspiring in people a lifelong love of the land and the natural world.

nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to protecting everyone's right to breathe clean air. The Council works through public education, community advocacy, and government oversight to ensure enforcement of environmental laws.

Inglis  House •  2600 Belmont Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19131 •  Inglis House is a specialty nursing care facility

providing long-term, residential care for 297 adults with physical disabilities, including multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury and stroke, among others.  Residents receive rehabilitative medical and nursing care; physical, occupational and speech therapies; and a selection of more than 20 social enrichment and therapeutic recreation programs every day.

skilled nursing home of choice for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care on the Main Line. We strive to accomplish this in an environment that is respectful of residents and staff.

Organization providing state of the art, culturally competent HIV primary care, consumer education, advocacy, social services, outreach to people living with HIV and to those who are at high risk, and access to the most advanced clinical research. Our goal and hope is to end the AIDS epidemic within the lifetime of those currently living with HIV.

Main  Line  Animal  Rescue •  1149 Pike Springs Rd, Phoenixville, PA 19425 •  Main Line Animal Rescue has helped thousands of

animals find new homes while launching one of the most successful anti-puppy mill campaigns in the history of animal welfare. MLAR celebrates the special bond between companion animals and the people who love them - through rescue, adoption, education and community outreach.

Penn  Vet  Working  Dog  Center •  3401 Grays Ferry Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19146 •  Established in 2007, the Penn Vet Working Dog

Center, is part of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine and serves as a national research and development center for detection dogs. Our goal is to increase collaborative research, scientific assessment, and shared knowledge and application of the newest scientific findings and veterinary expertise to optimize production of valuable detection dogs.
