It Might as Well Be SpringIt Might as Well Be Spring is a song from the 1945 film, State Fair. Composed by

Rodgers and Hammerstein, it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year.Dick Haymes made the first hit recording of the song, followed by another hit recording

by Frank Sinatra. Pianist, Brad Mehldau, first recorded It Might as Well Be Spring

with his trio on his 1995 album,Introducing Brad Mehldau, then again on his liverecording of The Art of the Trio Volume 5. This version is very fast and is played in 7/4.

    Milestones

Milestones is an AABA composition written by John Lewis, for Miles Davis, duringhis tenure with Charlie Parker. The recording of Milestones features a rare recording of

alto saxophonist Charlie Parker playing tenor sax. The composition has a lyrical melody

but a deceivingly difficult chord sequence.

My InspirationMy Inspiration is an original composition. It is written in AABB form with an interlude

during the melody. The A section of My Inspiration isin a minor key, while the Bsection is in a major key, as is Richard Rodgerscomposition My Favorite Things.

Both sections include a descending bass line.
