Find the computer with your assigned number.

Carry the computer with two hands to your desk.

Set the laptop securely on your desk.

Desk should be clear of all objects including water bottles, pencils, etc.

Push the power button at the top right just above the keyboard.

The touchpad works as your mouse. You need to use a very light touch.

Connect to Private for Internet access

Look at the wireless icon on the bottom right of the computer in the system tray

It looks like this: If you get a message that you are not connected

when placing the cursor over the icon, right-click on the icon and go to View Available Wireless Networks

If Private is not in the list, click on Refresh network list

Choose to connect to Private If that doesn’t work, tell your teacher!!

Now you can begin!

Checking your Battery

If the battery is 10% or less save your work to your flash drive or email it to yourself.

When Finished . . .

Close all windows and shut down the computer before closing the top.

This means that your computer screen must go black BEFORE you close the lid to the laptop.

When Finished . . .

Carry the computer carefully with two hands. Plug the cord into the laptop without

pulling the cord out of the cart. Carefully place the laptop back in the correct

numbered spot with the ports viewable.

Laptop Do’s

Save your files on your own flash drive or attach document and email to yourself. FILES SAVED ON LAPTOP WILL BE LOST!

Return laptop to the appropriate shelf and numbered slot in the cart when finished.

Notify your teacher if there is a problem with your laptop that you cannot handle.

Do not touch the keyboard with your pencil or any other object.

Do not eat or drink while using the laptop.

Do not lift the laptop by the monitor.

Do not change the settings on the laptop.

Printing in the Laptop Lab

The printer laptop (#25) must be logged on to the network for the printer to function.

Students should choose “File” and “Print” and then select the printer “shlap-printer/Xerox Phaser 8550DP PS” in order to print.

REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST ASK PERMISSION BEFORE PRINTING ANYTHING!!

solve the problem.

Believe it or not, the teacher does not know everything!
