The Connection Tawas Area Presbyterian Church 2095 E. U.S. Hwy 23, East Tawas, MI 48730 Tawas Area Presbyterian Church Mission Statement To commit to God’s guidance and passionately share God’s love with people of all ages. September 2018 Pastor Kathleen Rowe I can’t believe this is the “back to school issue” already. If you have kids or grandkids you are thinking…new school clothes, what will this new year bring, even perhaps “yay, I can’t wait for school to start” ( that comment is mainly from the parents)! I love all God’s seasons, but I particularly love fall. God gives us all kinds of opportu- nities to start fresh, we just must look for those opportunities and ask God to renew our minds and hearts to move forward with a fresh outlook. This season reminds us that even though leaves are falling, and frost is coming, God gives us unmatched beau- ty at the very same time. It’s OUR attitude that makes the difference. See the dying or see the living color, it’s up to us. Jesus kept trying to tell his disciples this very thing “Behold I am doing a new thing”. He did, he IS, look for it this season. We have several activities to help you with this fall. First, you may not know that we have combined a few committees to help with fresh ideas and free up some time for all of us. Christian Ed and Worship and Music have combined to be called “Worship Music and Education”. Mission and Outreach is considering becoming “Mission Outreach and Event Planning”. They are praying about this and will discuss it at their September meeting. This will allow one committee to be the clearing house for all our events. The proposal means that anyone or any committee with an event will bring it MOEP and they will provide guidance for our church on what will best serve our church body and the community. Please pray for this group as they decide they will assume this role. Next, is the September 20th meeting of the Presbytery of Lake Huron to be held here at our church. Mark your calendars. This will be an exciting event. The entire congregation and friends are welcome to come to share worship and communion. The worship starts approximately at 9:30am. We also will be contacting you to help with greeting, parking lot help, and for help with lunch. Stay tuned for more details. And, our new website is about to go live at the end of September. The site will have capabilities for me to have a video blog, and will have sermon access embedded on the site. Can’t wait for you to see what we have been working on all summer. Finally, on September 9th, we will take in 4 new members and elect our new elders and deacons. Be sure to join us on that Sunday for this important function of our church body. There is much more…but I can’t begin to list all the happenings here. YOU just need to come to church, get involved, help us love like Jesus loved, and make a difference. One person CAN make a difference. Working with you in ministry, Pastor Kathleen

Wanted! Singers! Our choir is in need of more singers, both men and women. If you would like to serve your church through singing and you enjoy sing-ing, (yes, we have fun!) and can sing in tune, we in-vite you to try us out for a few weeks. You don’t have to read music or be here every week. Rehearsals are Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and we warm-up at 9:15 on Sundays. Call Patty at 989-295-6444 if you are interested or have questions.

Because of your gifts ... We have: - Served 800 people in worship in July/August 2018.

We could not do this without your weekly offerings. Thank you for financially supporting your church;

we need each and every one of you!

Tawas Area Presbyterian Church says ...

TAPC Family, Thank you for your wonderful support especially those hugs. I have drawn much strength just knowing you are there with me. Thanks again, Jan Kamrath

“When it rains, it sometimes pours!” I want to thank everyone for the many cards, prayers, phone calls, etc. during my current and past illnesses - what a caring congregation at TAPC. Vida

From the Staff, Thank you everyone who has cooked or helped with our church functions. We had a busy couple of months and everyone stepped up and got ev-erything done.

Thank you to everyone also for a successful Pig Roast. It was a great time of food and fellowship. Thank you to Bob and Audrey Dresselhouse for putting things to-gether. Also thank you for all the donations of money and food to help it to succeed.

Mission Worker Cathy Chang Came To Visit TAPC In July

Your continued prayers are requested for Cathy Chang

and Juan Lopez, doing Mission work for the people of

the Philippines. Cathy and Juan collaborate with Asian

churches and non-governmental organizations to assist

with coordination efforts to end the scourge of human

trafficking. It was great to have them visit us. Their

presentation was very informative on their work in the

Philippines and how we can help them continue for

the years to come.
