What is Mesh Networking
Mesh networking has created quite a buzz in the wireless community. It promises self-configuring, multi-hop networking capability that lowers node costs and power consumption, and increases reliability in a real-world noisy environment.
Types of Mesh Networking
Mesh networking is typically implemented in two basic modes: infrastructure and/or client meshing. To gain the maximum benefit that meshing can offer, both modes need to be supported simultaneously and seamlessly in a single network.

Enter Mesh NetworkingSince we can determine which “nodes” in this network are in range of the other “nodes” in the network, we could build a small table into each of the nodes that may look like this:
Node 1 2 3 4 5 6
T-1 Entry 2 1 1 3 4 2
T-2 Entry 3 3 2 5 6 5
T-3 Entry NA 6 4 NA NA NA

Motivation For Mesh Networking
Provide Improvement in reliabilityProvide RedundancyIncrease Coverage Area
Topology ManagementProviding self-configuring mechanisms for highly dynamic mobile wireless nodes
Developing a network control organization that efficiently accommodates a large hierarchical network including highly mobile nodes
Location Management- Locating and tracking highly mobile nodes in a large network
Routing MangementManaging routes to/from/through highly mobile nodes in a large network
Network will be self configurable, no human intervention needed even in a mobile configuration
Unlimited range with repeaters
