VULNERABILITY TO NATURAL DISASTERS

• Indian Subcontinent highly vulnerable to drought, floods, cyclones and earthquakes.

• Among the 35 States/ Union Territories, 25 are disaster prone

• 8041 km Coast line exposed to tropicalcyclones

• 40 million hectare of land area prone to floods

• 56% of total area vulnerable to seismic activity

III 26% Punjab, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Bihar, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh.,Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.
