How to set up SafeEntry NRIC for visitor self-scanningStep 1: Display the SafeEntry NRIC poster prominently at your entrance / exit zones
How to use the SafeEntry NRIC poster:
1. Download the free SafeEntry NRIC
poster
2. Print (A3 size recommended)
3. Display the posters prominently at
your entrance and exit zones to inform
visitors on:
i) acceptable types of photo ID;
ii) how to position their photo ID for
scanning, and
iii) alternative types of ID if they do
not have their photo ID
How to set up SafeEntry NRIC for visitor self-scanning
Note:
If you are an Android user:
Ensure you are using Chrome and, if that doesn’t work,
use Firefox.
If you are an iOS user:
Ensure you are using Safari; the barcode scanner library
that we use only works on Safari for iOS devices due to
Apple’s restrictions.
The scanning function does not work on Chrome, Firefox,
other third party browsers. It also does not work on
in-app Safari (this might happen if you click the SafeEntry
link from within another app).

Step 2: Launch your mobile browser
Note:
You will receive your branch code after setting up a CMP
work site.
Don’t know where to find the code? Ask your
management or admin to log onto this link:
https://safeentry.gov.sg/logins/new or visit this section
for more details.
Enter the branch code provided to you
Give a name to the entrance or exit where staff will be scanning visitor NRICs. e.g. “Front entrance” When complete, click “Login” to start checking in visitors.

Step 1) Click on "Switch" to toggle Scan Entrance or “Scan Exit Setup

Step 2) Select “Scan NRICs” to use Smartphone to scan NRIC
How to select a traffic flow:
Click on “Switch” if you need to change from “Entry (Check-in)” to
“Exit (Check-out)” modes.
Use “Entry (Check-in)” to scan visitors leaving the location.
Select “Exit (Check-out)” to scan visitors leaving the location.
Note: In order for visitor count to be accurate, you will need to set up
“Scan Exit” to scan visitors leaving the location.
Please ensure you do not use multiple tabs on your mobile browser
to concurrently scan both entrance and exit for visitors as it will
cause issues to the scanning function on your smartphone

Select “Allow” when prompted by your browser to give SafeEntry permission to use the camera for SafeEntry NRIC scanner
How to set up SafeEntry NRIC for visitor self-scanningStep 6: Choose between Scan IC or Manual Input mode

Start by scanning visitor IDs with their NRIC barcodes on the viewfinder
If an NRIC barcode cannot be scanned, is prompting an error, or is not available, use the “Manual Registration” section to capture the ID details..
You may also use this section to capture the passport number of Foreign ID holders.

Click “Sound off” to toggle on sound alert
Note:
- Sound alerts will be played for
successful scans
- If there is no sound after visitor
scan, check to see if the scan was
successful or ask the visitor to try

How to set up SafeEntry NRIC for visitor self-scanning on a flat surface:
1. Download and print your free NRIC
placeholder template here to setup a NRIC
placeholder on a flat surface, as seen in
Figure 1.1 for visitors to place their NRIC,
you can also use yellow duct tape to setup a
NRIC placeholder area as seen in figure 1.2
2. Set up the NRIC placeholder printout on a
flat surface or table close to your scanning
device
3. Inform visitors to place their ID on the
barcode side facing the smart phone rear
camera or the barcode scanner for visitor
self-service check-in
4. Once visitor has successfully checked-in,
you will hear a beep sound

How to set up SafeEntry NRIC for visitor self-scanning
How to set up mounted SafeEntry NRIC for visitor self-scanning:
1. Set up a clamp for your barcode scanner as seen in
figure 2.1 or phone mount as seen in figure 2.2 to
securely hold smart phone or barcode scanner
2. Attach a power bank to your mobile device if you
are using Camera-based NRIC scanner
3. Download and print your free NRIC placeholder
template here and setup a NRIC placeholder area
as seen in Figure 1.1, before pointing your barcode
scanner onto the barcode area of the template
4. Inform visitors to place their ID with barcode side
onto the placeholder template for contactless
scanning
5. Once visitor has successfully checked-in, you will
hear a beep sound
