Self-evaluation Pre-production What went well During the pre-production process I was the location manager as I decided what locations we should use to film on for the music video scenes and made sure that we were allowed to record scenes on the premises as we needed permission for different locations because they were owned by another person, so I had to make sure that we would not get into trouble for using a property that we were not meant to. When I was searching for locations to use in our music video, I made sure that the locations were local as we would need to go to them after school and on other days we were free because we needed to get to places on time in order to have plenty of time to film and in case we would need to re-record scenes if they did not turn out how we wanted them to. I also suggested that we could use my house for a location as it would be relevant for the music video as our storyline was based in a person's house and because my house was closer to our school and efficient for us to use as we had a lot of space to record in. For the task, ‘minutes of meeting’, I was very successful in this task because every Monday, my group and I would meet at the beginning of the week to discuss what we will all need to do in order to complete the tasks for the music video to be finished on time before the due date. For example, every Monday my team and I met up in one of the classrooms with computers so we could all have access to a computer so we could complete different types of tasks which were associated for us. One person would finish off the script whereas the other person would finish off the location release form. We had to make a document where we would keep all the pages which we would write our meetings on, so discuss what we will do for the rest of the week and then make another page to discuss what we will do for the other week. Moving on, my team and I worked very well together as we would help each other if we were not sure on a task, also, we would complete our individual tasks that were given to us on time before the deadline because we made sure we completed the tasks on time so that we could all upload the tasks

Pre-production

What went well

During the pre-production process I was the location manager as I decided what locations we should use to film on for the music video scenes and made sure that we were allowed to record scenes on the premises as we needed permission for different locations because they were owned by another person, so I had to make sure that we would not get into trouble for using a property that we were not meant to. Moving on, my team and I worked very well together as we would help each other if we were not sure on a task, also, we would complete our individual tasks that were given to us on time before the deadline because we made sure we completed the tasks on time so that we could all upload the tasks onto our blogs and make sure our blogs where up-to-date whilst we were doing other tasks at different times.

Improvements

However, a few improvements during production were needed, for example, I could have been more stricter on locations as when my group and I decided to meet up on a day at a specific location, and some people turned up late to the location which made use loose quite a bit of time and therefore resulted in having less time to record on a scene because it would get darker quicker and this led to us needing to plan another day to record and made us fall a bit behind on filming days. As well, we could have used more locations as we only used five locations which made it boring for the viewers because if we had more locations, it would have made the viewers more interested and made the storyline superior as we would have used different locations for different reasons instead of just have the same location repeated in a few of the scenes. Finally, we could have set tasks for certain people who

were good at that topic because we once gave a task to a member of our group who was not familiar with the subject matter which led to us changing the person and using another person to finish that task and use more time to complete it.

Production

What went well Throughout production, when it came to buying props for the music video, we were quite successful as we knew where to buy the products and this gave us an advantage as we didn't waste any time for looking for the props and we were able to get easy access on it. For example, we needed to buy flowers and chocolates for a scene in the video, so we decided before to go to a local store which sold both flowers and chocolates and this made it more convenient for us to buy both the product at the same time and not waste any time, also, a scene was needed to record in the same store so we got most of the task completed in one day as we had all the accessibility to all the things we needed for the video when filming. When we got to a scene, all the members in our team knew how to work the camera and were very fortunate in setting up the camera which helped us save time for when recording so we would have more time to record more than one scene. And lastly, the angles were recorded well as when one scene only required one person, the rest of the team could help the camera man to see for any errors and help out with any problem if occurred.

ImprovementsThere were quite a few improvements needed for production such as, we could have used more than one house to record in as it would have made the storyline better as it would have given the viewers an impression of how the two different characters lived and shown the difference between their homes because it was necessary and the purpose of the storyline. Another improvement could have been that we used the locations for a longer period of time as we ran out of time and this led to us needing to reschedule to record for the same scene but on another day and lead us to waste time when we could have finished recording on a scene in a day or two days but sometime three or four days were suggested to record on just a scene because maybe some people in the team could not make it on that day or because the location was closed for that day.

Post-production

What went well

During the post-production process, I feel that my team did well in this because when it came to editing, all the members of the team had a go on trying to edit a scene and we all discussed and confirmed which scenes were exceptional for a time where the scenes was needed to be placed. Moving on, my team decided that we should split up the two final tasks which were editing in the scenes for the music videos and the editing decision lost. Me and Laura had the responsibility to take over and complete the editing decision lists and Ben and Nikon had the personality to finish off the editing as they were both more experienced with editing and had done editing before. By splitting up the team to complete this gave us a huge advantage in finishing the music video on time because we were able to save time and getting the task finished before the due date. We were able to finish before the due date and were able to start on the final task after editing which was to write a document about osit production. By finishing on time, we were able to move onto a next task and have extra time to plan out what we will need to do next.

Improvements

An improvement could have been that I managed the continuity better because some scenes were not recorded right because an object may have been in a scene when it was not suppose to be and if a character was looking at the camera when they were not suppose to be. As you can see from the picture on the right hand side, the character is looking at the camera which is unacceptable, as the continuity errors were not noticed until later on, this led to use not being able to re record the scene because we had no time left and we were in the process of editing. So in the future when recording a scene, we will need to make sure that continuity is followed through different scenes and make sure to check all the scenes when finished recording them. We could have also used a different storyline because when my team were talking to the other teams, we find out that most of the other teams had decided to make a storyline of a couple which went wrong and ending up badly and if we used a different storyline which was more interesting instead of the typical bad relationship it could have made our music video more entertaining and gotten more views because it would have been something different and unique.
