Te schools, S JKC Y ak Chee (2) and SMJK Katholik (2), and an autistic centre will be located in a- man asik Prima. A urther 5.93 acres o land will be reserved or a primary Islamic religious school in Bandar Kinrara. About 2.5 acres have been approved or the autism school, which will be built by the develop- ers o aman asik Prima. Te rest o the land will be divided between the schools. Although land or the new schools has been approved, the school boards still need approval rom the Education Ministry be- ore they can proceed with con- struction. Kok expressed hope that approval will be given immediately to enable the schools to start draing plans on how to ully maximise the space. Te schools can share some com- mon acilities like a feld, courts and canteen to optimise the land. She added that there should be no reason or the ministry not to give the green light. She pointed out that SJKC Y ak Chee in aman Bukit Kuchai and SMJK Katholik in Petaling Jaya are highly reputable. Allow- ing them to open branches in Pu- chong would beneit the community here, she said. Each o these schools has about 3,000 to 4,000 students, with both having to turn down about 1,000 students annually due to lack o space. “Te new schools will be within the vicinity o Puchong and it is convenient or residents to send their children there,” she added. Te autism school will also be a reputable one as it will be run by proessionals rom the National Autistic Society o Malaysia. “ his is part o our corporate social responsibility plan. We strive to give the best to the community,” said asik Prima project manager John Lou Chee Khiam. He added that the move would also be timely because there is no autism centre in Puchong and sur- rounding areas. Representatives rom SJ KC Y ak Chee and SMJK Katholik also gave their thumbs-up to the move, “We applied or land two years ago, and we are happy the state approved it this year,” SMJK Katho- lik Alumni chairperson Fong Kui Lun. He said the school had applied or land in a ew area, but they pre- erred Puchong because it is not that ar rom their current school in Petaling Jaya. SJKC Yak Chee Alumni chairperson Liong Yen Lan said the school was already bursting at the seams. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim being brieed by Senior Assistant Fire Commissioner Othman on the explosion at Empire Shopping Gallery in Subang.
