The Atlantic City Rescue Mission Farm builds community and it restores hope for the homeless. Nestled in Cape May County, this 3-acre farm experienced many firsts this year from the introduction of chickens, bee keeping, and the drilling and installation of water wells. We hope to double our harvest of vegetables from last season. All produce is used in the Mission’s kitchen to make 650 meals each day to feed the homeless. Church groups, families and neighbors are invited to spend a day on the farm and help our area’s homeless begin to cultivate a brand new life. DESCRIPTION

The Atlantic City Rescue Mission is growing in more ways than one to provide innovative solutions for the homeless. The Farm is just another example started by the Mission. It provides a learning experience for the community who volunteer on the farm but the produce it generates helps feed homeless at the Mission. The Mission’s involvement with the farm in Cape May began to help a widow keep her property and maintain Farm Status and since, it’s really taken off. It's a win-win says President, CEO Bill Southrey. We provide labor for the farm through Mission residents and volunteers giving everyone a chance to work together and share in something really remarkable. “We’ve been contacted to help out another Farm in Atlantic County, which we hope to start working this year.” says Bill. The opportunities really help with food costs and serves as a spiritual model the importance of becoming self-reliant, helping others, working together and engaging in the miracle of life again.
