Season eight picks up with the women of Nonnatus Housestill feeling the impact of Nurse Barbara Hereward’s death, which devastated fans in series seven. Speaking about how

Barbara's death affects the new episodes, Nurse Valerie Dyer actor Jennifer Kirby told Goodhousekeeping.co.uk:

"It’s not easily got over, you never get over something like that but one thing we talked about a lot was that grief manifests itself in lots of different ways. The thing with Call The Midwife

is that although it’s very emotional and in touch with the sadder side of things, it’s very hopeful as well so you see all of the characters dealing with it in their own way. The spirit of

Barbara continues throughout the series through all of us. In a way the loss of somebodylike that breathes new life into the thing as a whole because everybody realises that they need

to seize the moment and take her spirit and warm, loving energy throughout the series."

At the start of series eight, it’s spring time in 1964 and with the additions of the two new Sisters, who have been sent to live and work with the team in Poplar, Nonnatus House feels full once more.

The greatest novel. The greatest adaptation.

Les MisérablesDominic West, David Oyelowo and Lily

Collins star in Victor Hugo’s epic tale, scripted by Andrew Davies on MASTERPIECE

Sundays, April 14 - May 19, 2019 on WTVP

A blockbuster novel for over 150 years comes vividly to life in award-winning screenwriter

Andrew Davies’ multi-layered retelling of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. This enthralling

television event (not a musical) airs in six episodes on MASTERPIECE, Sundays,

April 14 - May 19, 2019 on PBS.

One of the longest and most engaging novels ever written, with a plot that is as relevant today as in the socially tumultuous 19th

century, Les Misérables is a challenging story to condense. But in a triumph of scripting,

MASTERPIECE veteran screenwriter Davies (Pride & Prejudice, Bleak House and more than a dozen other productions) preserves Hugo’s intricate plotting, striking historical vignettes, powerful themes, and evocative

characterizations, producing an epic television experience that is worthy of the original novel.

State & Water features two new shows this March with Tasji Bachman and Reina del Cid.

Reina Del Cidis part singer song-writer group, part rock band that you can find at the intersection of lyrical storytell-ing, catchy riffs, and scorching solos. After building a devoted on-line following as a solo artist, Del Cid teamed up with talented mu-sicians Toni Lindgren, Zach Schmidt, and

Andrew Foreman to develop a sophisticated sound with broad appeal, drawing in mixed crowds from jamheadsto college students to white haired intelligentsia.

State & Water airs on WTVP Saturday evenings at 10pm right before Austin City Limits.

State & Water can also be seen on WQPT-TV in the Quad Cities, WILL-TV in Champaign and WEIU-TV in Charleston, Illinois. Check local listings for details.

pursue her dream. She has recorded on Nashville's famed Music Row including her debut EP album "Win Me Over" and her recent release “Forever in a Second”.

The Peoria PlayersMarch 1, 7:30 PM

It is a place of fantasy, of drama, of spectacle. Craftsmanship and materials come together with the human spirit to allow us to suspend our disbelief and to be transported into another world outside ourselves.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, conventional theater in the United States was going through an upheaval. Cinema was on the rise, and the sensational melodramas of the theater were now fodder for the big screen. This lead to a dramatic decrease in the level of experimentation and stifled creative theater for many years, as producers and theater owners only produced shows that would realize the highest of profit margins. Young theater practitioners around the world were desperate for a change. They wanted a place where new ideas could grow.

On a brightly moon-lit June night in 1919, twenty-five eager, creative Peorians gathered and decided to form an amateur “players” group...

Three locations, the great depression, two major wars, and over 1000 productions... Journey through 100 continuous years ofPeoria Players Theatre, as WTVP presents, “The Peoria Players.”
