Governor’s Corner

Hello all Moose Members: What a month we have had. First, the bathrooms in the park went out and it was going to be very expensive to repair, having to remove some very old pipes. Thanks to one of our great members Jesse Farrell (the Plumber) and Phil Ponto it didn't cost the Lodge an arm and a leg to break up the con-crete and replace the 80 year old pipes. So when you see Jesse and Phil around the lodge make sure you give them a great big thank you for a job well done. On the 1st Monday of the month we have Open Mic Night and some food for purchase. Join Jesse and others for a jam session from 6 to 9.

The 2nd Tuesday of the month the WOTM have Taco Tuesday and other Mexican specials. We also have line dancing with Duffy. On the 2nd Thursday on the month we have Bunco for men and women and burg-ers, chili and hot dogs etc. for purchase. Come out and give it a try, it’s a whole lot of fun for $5 and you could win cash back or prizes! We need to know if anyone would be interested in having a dart tournament? We need to have enough interest to get it started. On the 10th we had our famous Gary Lake fish fry! It was great food and a won-derful time as always. Thank you Gary and Cindy for your generous donation every year. On the 17th Donna Marcus, Jesse and Tina Farrell chaired the Blues in the park with 3 bands. A great dinner of pork loin and scalloped potatoes with cobbler for desert was a tasty treat!! Thanks to all that made it a fun evening, it is a lot of work to put these events on and your participation makes it worth doing. On the24th of August we had our first Hawaiian Luau in many years. We hope you enjoyed the food and dancers. A special thank you to Duffy for picking up the slack and DJ’ing the rest of the evening. Thank you to Lydia for taking the chair on this event, and thanks to all that were there to help. On Friday the 30th. we are having A Sock Hop, sponsored by the WOTM. we will have chicken and waffles. Root Beer Floats and Raffle prizes. come in costume if you chose to. There will be prizes for the best theme dress, and the best 50’s dancers. Heck, you might even see a hula hoop or two! Please see flyer for details and bring new or gen-tly used socks, jackets and blankets to help the homeless. This is going to be a fun even-ing with Brown Sugar band playing lots of Oldies. Thanks to Liz and John Crewdson for putting this together for the WOTM Fund Raiser. To start the month of September we will have our annual Labor Day Picnic on Sun-day Sept 1st. See flyers for information on times. Also there are flyers out for the Comedy Show on the 27th of Sept. Let's make our lodge great again. more to come. Fraternally Yours Phil Persails Governor

Senior REGENT’S chapter chatter

Dear Co-Workers and all the WOTM,

A couple of weeks ago we had a visitor from No. Carolina at our lodge on a Friday night. She was amazed at the fun-loving crowd, the great music and lively atmosphere. She shared that her lodge is dying and the people apathetic. She remembered years ago when their lodge was much like ours and it made her so happy to be here and so sad to see what was lost. WE NEED TO VALUE WHAT A GEM WE HAVE, WORK TOGETHER TO SUPPORT THE LODGE AND SUPPORT THE ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE BEEN PLANNED FOR OUR ENJOYMENT! The summer has surely flown by and there is so much we have enjoyed together as a Moose family. In August we've had some great events in the park... The Lake's Fundraiser to honor their son was a great success...Thank you so much for all you do for our lodge! Everyone who attended had a wonderful time! The Blues in the Park was spearheaded by Jesse & Tina and was also a great event. I'm writing this before the Luau and Sock Hop but have every faith that the hard working people at the lodge will put on fun, successful events. Fall is just around the corner and we will be as busy as ever. Please remember to join us on the second Thursday of the month for Bingo, every Tuesday for Line Dance lessons and great food and friendship. The WOTM are a fun and active group of women who need your help. Attend the meetings on the first and third Wednesdays and see what is going on and give us your input. ALL ARE WELCOME! Help provide baked goods for the bake sales on he first Friday of the month...and if you don't bake be sure to buy the goodies brought by others. If each one of us do one small task each year...WOW what a difference that would make! We are looking into doing Bingo at the lodge and need volunteers who might be interested in helping and we are looking for people to help planning our New Year's Eve Party. I'm looking forward to a great and fun filled Fall!

Fraternally yours, Meridee Reynolds Sr, Regent 760-822-6021

What’s Happening with the Moose Riders?

I am running for Vice President of CA/NV Extreme South Moose Riders.. Elections will be held in Reno at the upcoming Annual Conference. Should this happen we will be working closely with Mira Mesa,, Kearney Mesa, and Lemon Grove Moose Riders. This should lead to many more rides!

Please review the La Habra Moose Rider’s Poker Run flyer. We can join them for the ride and they end up in our park for an evening of fund, food and entertainment. Plan on coming out and enjoying the evening with fellow Moose Members. Stay and camp or bring your motorhome..

Remember, you do not have to have a motorcycle to be a Moose Rider, you just need to want to enjoy rides and beautiful scenery. You can do this in your car or truck, come out and join us, California is a beautiful State with lots to see. Our next meeting will be held on September 15th @ 10:30 AM.

As always, we do the cooking on the fourth Tuesday of every month to help out the lodge. Look for monthly special burgers, like the Western Bacon Cheese burgers, and Ortega burgers (Mike & Tom make the best burgers in town!).

Until Next Time,

Jesse Farrell

President Escondido Moose Riders

ADMINISTRATOR’S UPDATES Brothers and Sisters of the Lodge,

First off I would like to thank the people that have been instrumental in several activities lately. Tina and Jesse Farrell and Donna Marcus for their efforts in producing the Moosestock and Blues in the Park events. They are an example of the talented members we have in the Lodge. Gary and Cindy Lake for the Annual Fish Fry feast. Nothing but raves for the food and fun. Lydia and Phil Persails for the Luau. I understand the show was top notch. The only down side was that Charly and I were out of town for some of them. Charly was attending to her Deputy Grand Regent duties and I was carrying her bags. Our son got married last week so there was another out of town event. We are glad to be back home. Now we can get packed for the Reno conference.

I would like to throw out a big thanks to Phil and Lydia for the years of doing the food shopping for the Lodge. No small task, they have held steady for over five years. A round of applause for Cindy Mintz for managing the bar and to Julie Lamb and Donna Marcus for helping in the office. With that said, I want to thank Patti Grimmer for the years she held the office together and kept us on track. That was no easy task and it was handled well. Thank you all for your efforts.

I know all of you enjoy the Social Quarters. We are able to operate the Social Quarters because the bartenders are volunteers. They are also members of our Lodge or Chapter family. They are in charge of the Social Quarters in the absence of the Administrator. Treat them with respect and don’t argue with them. There are reasons for what they do. Please have and present your Moose ID card even if not asked.

The Social Quarters is a place to relax and socialize with Lodge members. It is supported by the sales at the bar and dining room. We need your support to maintain its operation. When you don’t eat dinner at the Lodge or go out to your car to have a drink it undercuts the support needed to function. Please understand there is a cost to providing a band, reasonable drink prices and to maintain the building . You may think it is no big deal to go out to your car for a drink of water or whatever. If you do that , it is unfair to those members who do support operations. Kind of like jumping the turnstile to avoid the fare.

OK, something new! We are eliminating the cover charge on band nights commencing September. You will still have to show your Moose ID. To cover the band cost, the price of drinks will be increased $.50 each after the band start time. This is a common procedure in establishments in the area and is fair to all. Also we don’t have to have wrist bands and chase people around for the cover charge.

That’s it for now. Dan Papp Treasurer (Administrator)
