HY-TEXSEDIMAT
IN-STREAMSEDIMENT ENTRAPMENT
For this project, The Wild Trout Trust used our Sedimatin the River Aire in Yorkshire. They needed to catchthe sediment in-stream for wider ecological benefit. The product was used to help facility the removal of amajor barrier, Coniston Cold weir, which then allowedfish movement in the upper part of the river andcomplemented a scheme for salmon to return.
The Wild Trout Trust worked over 2 days to completethis and partnered with the Aire Rivers Trust, theEnvironment Agency, the landowner and tenant farmerto complete the project in the most efficient waypossible.
The project was led by Professor Jonathan Grey of TheWild Trout Trust, and he was pleased with how theSedimat performed. After its use in-stream, the Sedimatwas then placed on an eroded bank downstream tostabilise and stimulate new growth.
