THE  ALEXANDRA  SCHOOL    SECURITY  MESSAGE  TO  PARENTS  FROM  THE  PRINCIPAL  

 

Over  the  past  few  terms,  we  have  noticed  an  increase  in  the  number  of  security  challenges  the  school  has  had  to  address.    In  an  attempt  to  ensure  the  safety  and  comfort  of  our  students  and  staff  as  well  as  to  protect  the  integrity  of  our  school  and  its  legacy,  we  have  decided  to  institute  certain  specific  measures.  

• All  students  are  to  be  off  the  school  compound  by  3:30  p.m.  unless  under  the  direct  supervision  of  a  teacher  or  someone  specifically  engaged  for  a  school  activity.    Notwithstanding  this,  any  child  awaiting  transportation  must  remain  in  the  area  of  the  benches  adjacent  to  the  school’s  main  office.  

 

No  student  is  allowed  in  the  central  teaching  areas  of  the  school  after  3:30  p.m.  

 

• The  gates  on  the  eastern  side  of  the  school  (the  bus  side)  will  be  closed  at  8:45  a.m.    They  will  however,  remained  available  for  entry  for  staff  and  students  arriving  by  school  bus  until  9:00  a.m.    No  further  entry  will  be  allowed  after  this  time,  unless  special  arrangements  are  made  out  of  sensitivity  to  inclement  weather.  

 

• Parents  bringing  children  to  school  on  mornings  will  not  be  allowed  to  drive  into  the  yard  after  8:15  a.m.    The  children  must  disembark  at  the  gate  and  walk  into  the  school.  

 

• The  gate  at  the  western  side  of  the  school  (sea  side)  will  be  closed  at  9:00  a.m.  Entry  will  be  denied  to  all  persons  (staff,  students,  authorized  and  invited  personnel  excepted)  unless  special  permission  has  been  granted  by  the  Principal  or  Deputy  Principal  in  his  absence.    

 

• All  persons  seeking  entry  to  the  school  must  be  soberly  and  appropriately  dressed.    

• No  vehicular  traffic  (school  buses  and  school  sanctioned  transportation  excepted)  will  be  allowed  to  drive  on  to  the  school  compound  between  2:30  and  3:15  p.m.  

 

• All  persons  allowed  entry  on  to  the  school  compound  must  supply  the  security  personnel  with  their  name  and  the  nature  of  their  business.
