Xerox Data and Document Security

TRANSCRIPT

Page 1: Security Article

What is your key asset? It's information. And the essential requirement for information is SECURITY.

The Threat is Real

Today the threats to information are real and the stakes are growing. Attacks can originate in unexpected ways: phone lines, web servers, hard disks, and even email.  In your office, are documents, connected devices, and software secure? A recent CBS News investigation called attention to a security breach many of us had little knowledge of. Did you know that every time you use your office system, data is stored on the hard drive? Does your office copy print or scan social security numbers, loan numbers, payroll information or other information thought to be private? Have you considered what happens to that information once the copier is returned to the leasing company? What CBS News discovered may be of concern to you. Often the multifunctions (copiers) are re-sold and your information could now be in the hands of someone with illicit plans. If you have not seen the story please click on the You Tube link below.

The Xerox Answer

Even before the CBS investigation Xerox was proactive in the arena of document security by making automatic overwrite an option in all machines. That means within every Xerox piece of equipment there is a virtual shredder, an eraser of sorts, getting rid of any data that could be stored on the hard drive.

If you are currently not using a Xerox device, we can still help you with your MFP security through a disk removal program whereby a Xerox technician will remove a drive and turn it over to you for disposal. Learn more about security risks and the features available to address them.
