  • Outcomes Draw section view and understand its concept Full section, half section & offset section Broken section, revolved section, interposed section & aligned

    section Hatching

  • Section view

    Why?Document the design and manufacture

of single parts which are manufactured as one piece.

Document how multiple parts are to be assembled or built.

Aid in visualizing internal workings of a design.

What? Cut part view. Solid part of the cut

is remained and sketched using hatch.

  • Section view the characteristics

  • Section view drawing steps Determine the cutting plane and the direction of viewing by

adding two solid, dark arrows on one of the multi view projection. Draw another multi view projection which is going to be cut. Draw hatch lines on the solid cut. If there are two and more components, change the degree of the

    hatch lines.

  • Cutting plane line The preferred cutting plane line style is made up of equal dashes

ending in arrowhead. Another style uses alternating long dashes and pairs of short

    dashes

  • Hatch rules

Show edges and contours which are now visible behind the cutting plane

Omit hidden lines in section views A section-lined area is always completely bounded by a visible

outline The section lines in all hatched areas for that object must be

parallel Visible lines never cross section lined areas
